Raleigh Super Tuff Burner re-released

Not old enough to have had a chopper but did have the OP bike.

Awww as well as the cardboard and clothes peg over the back wheel!

Memories of my childhood:

Really showing my age now tho :p

On topic - OP, go treat yourself :D

I had a chopper. It was blue, though. Dangerous thing. I remember regaining consciousness in a skip once (fortunately empty). I remember thinking that I could stand in the seat and pretend I was surfing. I don't remember what happened, but the bike was in the road and I was in the skip coming to with a bruised head, so I can fill in the gap :)

The first bike I can remember having was a Raleigh Ranger, a sort of precursor to BMX. I remember that mostly for holding a wheelie for forty feet (a big deal at the time) and trying to jump a river on it (splosh!).

Almost all of the little sense I had as a boy flew away when I got on a bike :)

That's not a real chopper :(

True. The seat was one piece on a real Chopper and there was a gear lever on the crossbar to castrate you in a crash.

That's a real Chopper.

Loved my Boxer, I think I picked the back seat to bits down to the metal.

My mate still has his old one stored in his dads garage.

I went off the back of a Raleigh Chopper because I underestimated how light the front end was and went for a big wheelie. queue me flying off the back onto my head and crying a little lol

Wasnt there a mini-chopper called a budgie or something? im sure i remember one of my mates younger brothers having one.

hehe, budgie was the one for really little kids, then there was the Tomahawk, as mentioned above, whicvh was like a mini Chopper, then there was the Chopper.

I had a Tomahawk - I remember my dad made a false gearstick for it, spring loaded with a rubber band, so I could pretend I had gears like the bigger kids :D

Ahhh thats brought back the memories. When your bike was THE status symbol, forget games consoles and mobiles phones/trainers. Having a chopper meant your status in the "IN" crowd was secure.

Did anyone have the Raleigh Vektor, My mom and ada got me one, then some **** nicked it. The big was coll, but absolutely attrocious to ride, it was heavy as ****:p

my little bro had a passed down budgie. it was so small that i remember him crashing into a kurb at high speed and being flipped over the bars

That was it the good old days of getting home from school. Grabbing some tea and going out on your Bike for hours on end.

I sometimes feel sorry for the kids of today.Stuck inside their bedrooms in their virtual worlds getting porky.

Us lot where out and about Bunny Hopping Bricks and Biking around in huge numbers checking out each others Bikes, sharing ideas, and learning new tricks.

Great Times

My first proper bike was a Raleigh Burner, though I think it had metal spoked wheels not plastic. I can't remember what colour the frame was, chrome or yellow, but the pads were yellow.

Awesome bike.

Cant remember what the name of my Raleigh BMX was now....

Silver frame, Red pads, black plastic wheels.

Anyone know?

EDIT: just done a search and it's come back, was a "Mag Burner"
