BBC Issue apology over Ross/Brand 'Prank'

To be honest most of the thread's posters are entirely missing the point, all you get are comments like haven't you got more important things to worry about, who cares, get a life, cant believe its being blown out of proportion.......................

Fact is they comitted a serious breach of the use of a phone, whilst at work, working for the countries national media/news/entertainment company and theres proper evidence clearly showing them in the act, clearly the BBC cannot now condone such events and they have to be suspended

To all those that think it was either ok or everyones overreacting, why not try this at home yourselves along with recording all evidence of the event, I'd love to see how long you kept your job or avoided the police

So much fickledome too, if the prank had been made by someone who is historically a mocking target or someone who's not cool to be seen to like, then I'd hazzard a guess that youd be slagging them and calling for their end, but because Brand and Ross are current, supposedly cool hip and trendy in the spotlight celebs it somehow makes it acceptable

Would love to be a fly on the wall if some of you got in from a night out and played back messages saying a female member of your family was being nailed etc, like youd really have a quiet chuckle, delete the message and settle down with a night cap and think no more about it, youd prob start a thread on these very fourums called "How dare they, please advise on ripping some blokes head off"

From reading comments on various news articles it seems most people think the comments were libelous and this is the basis for their complaints about it.

Perhaps if they were more aware of the circumstances they'd be less likely to complain? Seems to me that the granddaughters 'lifestyle' is the thing which has brought shame, if at all any has been brought, on her family.
 
Just like Chris Evans who got sacked from BBC Radio 1.

Now working for BBC2 he is grateful to be allowed to broadcast as he certainly doesn't do it for the money.

Ross abused his position and now he's paying.

LOL after being sacked by the BBC Chris Evans went and worked for Virgin Radio, then bought Virgin Radio, then sold it for a massive profit. ;)

I can't believe the fuss that's being made of this - it's getting beyond a joke now.

Yes, they were stupid. Yes, they need to be disciplined. Is it the end of the world? No, of course not. They haven't hurt anyone, just hurt some feelings.

Far worse happens in the world every day and no-one seems to care about that. A sense of perspective is required...
 
Yet another crazy BBC over reaction to a story about nothing and who are these 20000 people who have found the time to complain? I bet half of them haven't even listened to the show on the web and have based there reaction on the crazily ott media coverage. Honestly you'd think they'd driven round his house beaten him up and left him dying in the street!

Still it has at least allowed the BBC to ignore the fact the FTSE is up 5% today as they wouldn't want to write a finance story without mentioning armegedon and melt down at least twice.

Request the suspension of this guy please for slander!

Maybe if your generation (worldwide demograph here) had not got so angry about everything a lot of people would still be alive? Maybe anger classes in those days would have been beneficial? A shrink?

It seems your still suffering... ;)

The thing is there is "total crap" being broadcast by the BBC (as a corporation) 24hrs a day, 365 days a year. I think the Archers is a waste of licence fee payers money but I have to accept that some people enjoy it. I enjoy Top Gear but many people find Clarkson a tool.

Unfortunately this whole incident is being used by people who don't like Brand and/or Ross and have an issue with the licence fee to stick the knife in.

ten80p, while many many people would not laugh about it if they were in Sachs's position I very much doubt the same people would be able to say they'd never had a laugh at someone else's expense.

Its not just old people who have complained.

I find for one Ross swearing on his chat show pointless.Its Garbage and serves no purpose.

Its about time we had some quality writing brought back to the BBC.

And I'm not old. :p
