*** Red Alert 3 ***

wish there was a demo before i fork out my money. i loved RA2 so am really looking forward to this, but i don't want to be disappointed.

I kinda like not having a demo. It makes the moment when you get to hold the box in your hands for the first time all the more special.

I played the C&C3 demo for ages so when it eventually came out I was like "meh".

Unless the game in mention is Spore!! I made the utter mistake of buying that game and regretted it after the first hour :( Thank god I was able to get a refund the next day \o/

On another note, seems people are having loads of CD key problems and cant play online! Makes me feel better for living in the UK and not being the first country to get it. For those lucky enough to receive their copy tomorrow, but unlucky enough to get an invalid CD key or a manual where the CD isnt complete (missing last digit!!) then check here on the official forums:

Just checked on a well known high street stores website, my Order is in the post.. should be with me today hopefully :D

Got mine this morning and, so far, not remotely impressed at all. what in the hell is with the ridiculously limited zooming ability of some of these RTS's these days. checked the tutorial for the sake of it and it was embarassingly painful and full of god damn awful "humour". Did the first mission for GDI so far and , well Gemma Atkinson is not showing remotely enough cleavage to soften the pain of that ruddy accent she is using.

I feel the only chance for this game to be good is for her to lose an item of clothing for every mission you complete.

It was only the first mission but, it felt too arcadey, to quick, way to zoomed in, to fast to really micromanage what you are doing. THeres having to do too much individual targetting, theres doing to little and a sweet spot inbetween for enjoyable tactical games I find.

But something about the whole menu, options, tutorial feels so incredibly childish, even the victory screen shots feel...... weird.

i want to get this, but i hated Generals so much that i never even gave C&C3 a chance :(

is C&C3 worth playing?

RA2 is my fave, followed by the original

Welcome to the world of Red Alert! :D All the things you just mentioned are the reasons I love the series. Cheesy, fast, corny, frantic and lots of FMV's!

Just.. stop posting

Sometimes I wish people used their brains, the first mission through the last missions, things that won't change. The speed of the game, the view, the dodgey accent, the lack of cleavage actually on view, the units or the style of gameplay.

The things that will change will be length/style of mission and storyline, the rest however will not. Played another few missions now and shockingly all the bad things I mentioned have not changed. Worse still Gemma's clothing doesn't seem to be dissappearing and I think i've head about 12 different accents from her.

Corney cutscenes are fine, they just aren't very good, red alert 1/2, first few C&C's were fantastic, but this is the same thing over again, with even worse actors. The FMV's used to be great but the fact that every russian cutscene from the last 5 years of games has been in the same damn office is getting just a tad old, especially when they say the same thing over and over.

Absurdly fast, small maps and lack of any real tactics so far and I'm far far from impressed. The landscape and style seem awful aswell. Pretty water, some nice lighting but it seems to plain compared to old far worse versions graphically, they had some flavour and flare to the design if not fancy looking water.

Sounds about what I expected from it sadly.

I think it'll be the same as CNC3 for us - fun for the odd spamtastic LAN game.

umm I think he was refering to you calling them GDI, not allied. I aslo agree I am not impressed atm. I liked the idea of a co-op campaign but theres no solo version to do instead. You HAVE to play alongside an annoying AI commander.

Played a couple of mission as the Soviets yesterday on RA3 on the PC, then went back to playing Fable 2. Seemed quite fun in the little time I spent playing it. I'll try and give it another go over the weekend, but i've still got Dead Space, Saints Row 2 and shortly Fallout 3 to play / finish. Why did so many games have to come along at once.

ah, i thought it was the usual response to someone posting about a first mission and the general insistance that all games ever made are better the further in you go.

The further in I get, the more dissappointed I am. It is just arcadey rubbish , no tactical skill or thought, ridiculously easy and the video which made the originals is just so bad its beyond corney/funny combo and is just sad.

Seriously, Gemma can either barely read or is on crack. Half the words she pronounces emphatically, half she sounds like a chav, theres about 4 different main accents she seems to be trying and so many absurd split second smiles that seem more like a tic than acting. Plus seriously, we don't even have the skin tight rubber style outfits that seem to have been so prominant in the last few C&C's.

oh well, a quick playthough, which I expect can probably be done in a single day, then uninstall. :(
