*** Red Alert 3 ***

Not very impressed so far. Why oh why did EA feel the need to change the graphical style from semi-realistic to cartoony. Most of the ingame gfx so far are very cartoony looking and the vivid colour palette does not suit the C&C universe. the outline on the units when you select them is also a little strange as it is like a constant glow which is several pixels wide. The water gfx are the best of any C&C game but the general gfx are a little OTT colour palette wise and the ageing game engine is starting to show its age badly now. Gameplay is same old so far and the FMV are a lot of fun in the cheesy C&C style. At least you do not need a very powerful PC to run this @ max settings as even on a 4850 I am getting high FPS with max AA & max gfx.

RA2 was "colourful and cartoony", they just kept in the same lines with RA3.

Will keep an eye on what people think of this - love RA2 so am tempted by this but will wait and see how it pans out ... I didn't get C&C3 so I wouldn't mind a new C&C game to muck about with!

Well, the DRM was super effective:

6.21 GiB seeds:357 peers:12646

Bet EA are glad they used this fancy DRM rather than just normal key activation like RA2!

I loved the original Red Alert and have bought RA2 and Generals……Generals I agree I did not really enjoy as much…. But this RA3 looks really poor in that it looks dated and looks like a re-hash of a game rather than something new that brings the series on .

Looks totally three years out of date……..Granted the game will still be fun to play but the maps look small and battles are likely to quick……I loved nothing better that a good slog of a fight. I know supreme commander fills that void but will RA3 be tactical or some mad tank rush………….
