*** Red Alert 3 ***

Seriously disappointed in this, played through the campaign which is aimed at eleven years plus I imagine as its mind numbingly easy with a mild fun element. Things have moved on so much since RA2….and this does not show it

You feel your too close and the maps are designed too even with most being mirror like…..if you could increase the map size by ten times for a start. Why do I need an air-force or Carrier group? Most of the time I could throw a stone from my base to the enemy one…

It’s simply a meat grinder game with little tactical aplomb, what ever happened to moving large number of units to holding points out of sight hidden ready for them to move to capture tactical points…..with air-support timed to travel to hit targets…

I cant understand what the Developers were thinking………..move on, get over it…..its too fast paced, looks toy-town and shallow with a very limited Unit count.

Played through the Soviet and skirmish last night with the Football on, played through the Allies waiting for something to impress or for the Ai to wake up……but took it back today and got my refund……….last game I bought was FM08 and before that BF2 ( now playing PR MOD) so it did succeed to get me to buy it but not to keep it…….

Ditto - i'm that close i can see what make the engineer's wrench is ffs!

Horrid game, boring as hell and annoying as hell.

is red alert 3 on a dual layer disk?

my bro bought it today and it isnt detected on his laptop, but reads on my comp.

his drive still reads other disks, so wondered maybe ra3 is dual layer?

if you wanted to play supcom then maybe you should have bough that instead.

Totally. Although i prefer supcom as a game i'm enjoying ra3 for what it is. Another fun, face paced cnc game. Obviously i can see how people dissapointed but once again i think what was everyone expecting. From what people were saying i was expecting a big pile of dung of game, only to be pleasantly suprised at how fun it is right now. I will get bored of it yes but that is the future... and single player campaign is horrible, stay away from that.

@Vicious:

The disc has a silly amount of HD videos on it even before the game data. Something like 3.5gig so i suppose it would be a dual layer disc as most dvds in recent years have been so. But it's more likely to be something wrong with the dvd drive it self (some of my old ones have failed to read discs) or the DRM not being compatible, i think the later though. Even though the drm hasn't affected me whatsover with this game, a friend did have trouble with spore which has a similar system.

I agree, i feel the same really

RA3 is so poor it's funny, I just play the game for the vids/women in it, seriously so funny listening to them vids after a cakewalk victory of 10 minutes... I mean, it's just so dry, the poor missions compared to the amount of vids :p.

Skirmish is just poor, probably going to remove it after the campaigns...

I mean, so many time and money wasted on getting good people, for the cinematics, music and bonus dvd, yet so little attention for the game itself :(. It as many have said before, is a game for complete beginners of RTS games: 11 year olds...

Since when do people get refunds because they don't like a game?

I was eagerly anticipating this, however it was very disappointing. It was fun for abour 3/4 hours learning the new parts of the game - the units/special abilities/different faction techniques.

However once you know everything it becomes a very dull game. Campaign is ridiculously easy, on a lot of them you can just get you co commander to do all the work - on one game i literally built base defenses and set my co commander on several objectives while i made dinner - came back and job done. :/

Back to C&C3 (although zero hour remains my favourite). However i will hope that an expansion in the same vain as Kane's Wrath and Zero Hour will come out sprucing up the AI, bringing a new and better campaign, and hopefully sub factions (something i really like in KW and ZH).

Who said I did not mate! The limited factor there is the New Mini Cooper on the drive…….meaning I’m still on my old PC that I bought in 2005….Borrowed SupCom and loved it but it killed my machine once it got to a point…if anything it was too big….the new rig might deal with it next April.

But seriously you know what I’m saying…..Love the RA world but the Maps and scale are total pants…………

if u were expecting RA2 on the scale of supcom with the UI of supcom then keep dreaming....dont think its ever gonna happen:p

*edit*
have to say it would be a dream come true but only a modding community would probably do it.

Right. You're no longer allowed to comment on the game!! It's a war game yet you're male and own a NEW VERSION mini cooper!! They're gayer than a handbug full of rainbows and gay people like to make love, not war, hence you are unable to see RA3 for what it truly is...

Hmm, the soviet campaign didn't fill me with awe, wonder if the other two are as bad...

"ooooh there's a really tricky target that you'll need to work you way around there base to destroy", no i'll just chuck half a dozen airships with mig support at it and be done in 20 minutes thanks.

Or they give you a basic mission which is a doddle so you know it's going to enlarge the map. Meaning you holdoff the last target for ten minutes and spam out as much air support as you can, then just charge for the final target and finish the "proper" mission in under a minute :( (soviet vs rising sun for example)

The maps are tooooooo small. :(

Poor misguided sole there is always a …..try saying that after driving it on a Mini thrash through Scotlands best A roads, with thirty other mini drivers……..nah your right I could just get a boring 3 series…………..:D

This game is what you said all the same "gayer than a handbug full of rainbows" its RA2 rehash and sad thing is some are buying it.
