Has the 360 controller spoiled you?

The most comfy controllers I've ever used are the Xbox 360 one and the Gamecube controller. I played Resistance a bit on my PS3 the other day and even though it's a decent game I really missed my 360 pad.:( The Playstation pad felt really uncomfortable in my hands. I don't mean getting use to where the buttons are but design wise the 360 pad seems much better as in moulded well for my hands.

i love the way the 360 controller fits in my hands, so yes, pretty much been spoiled by it

though I still love the awesomeness and simplicity of the NES controller :) lol

I daresay we won't have to worry about the DualShock 4 appearing with PS4. They're likely to do away with it and go for some wand waving nonsense like the Wii.

The first Xbox's S-controller spoiled us, if anything; the 360 pad is just a minor revision of that.

I held an S-Pad for the first time in years the other day, and found it terribly uncomfortable. It was great at the time, but it feels too small (to me) now and the triggers felt odd as well.

You found it too small, yet you like the 360 pad which is the same size? ;)

Have to agree, the 360 is bar far and away the best pad iv ever used. THe DS3 was a improment over the standard PS3 pad but its still in desperate need of a redesign. All games that are dual format I get on the 360 soley for this reason.

Maybe so, but it felt more cramped. The 360 pad feels more spread out.

The triggers in particular seem smaller with less travel.

Yeah the triggers are certainly different, that is the first thing I noticed. They have less travel on the 360 pad.

I used to hate the 360 controller, but that was more because I was being an idiot and doing the "Its MS it's poo.". I then got this controller for my PC and love it, the PS3 pads are smaller and feel really flimsy and horrible, this feels bulky and good.
I then got a 360 recently and the pad fits so much better in my hands it it feels 'right' and I prefer it above all other gamepads...I still use the Logitech on my PC and like it...although if a game is about and it's going to be better with controller I'll go for it on 360. :)

It's a nice controller and no changes are necessary to the ergonomics of it. The d-pad is atrocious though, and the PS3 controller is much better in that aspect. If I buy fighting games like Tekken, Soul Calibur or Street Fighter, it's undoubtably going on the PS3 everytime. It's lost revenue for Microsoft no thanks to the d-pad and I'm surprised they still haven't gotten around to truly revising it.

Apart from the new revision with a new d-pad and new bumpers?

Edit: Though it's a limited edition and only on sale in the US now, you'd hope they're actually going to put these changes into all future controllers eventually. What happened to the green one that had the new d-pad not long ago? I never saw that for sale.

So yeah, a full revision of the controller would be nice :p

Is the DualShock 3 D-pad patented and hence Microsoft couldn't pinch the design without paying Sony?

I think all 3 d-pad designs (Nintendo's, Microsoft's and Sony's) are now patented. I know the Nintendo one has been patented since forever and the other 2, fairly sure, followed suit (for whatever reasons).

There is a new Microsoft pad with a new d-pad (EU exclusive, I believe). But testing on some websites and users shows no difference, in existing games (I think they ned to code games especially for the new pad, which kind of defeats the point, unless all old games get patched (something I doubt as the controller is only out in the EU, at the moment).

As mentioned in another thread, the controllers are one of the only things remaining that are stopping me getting a PS3. They make my hands hurt after only a few minutes :( Which is strange as I was fine when I had a PS2

Ergonomically the 360 controllers are perfect, they sit in my hands just right, they are perfectly weighted, and all buttons/triggers and sticks fall in the right positions. I can't think of any way to improve them as far as ergonomics goes.
