teeth whitening

I was thinking about going to them to get my teeth whitened but I have a feeling that given their location, overheads and advertising costs, they will be expensive. I intend to get the work done locally.

Your teeth look good Simmz, however, why bother getting the teeth done that are not visible? Surely, it wouldve been better to just get the front lower teeth done that are on show?

I had 10 upper teeth and 10 lower teeth done.

When I smile properly you can see about 8 upper teeth sometimes 10.

When I laugh you can see the 10 upper and the 10 bottom ones done.

I was orginally going to only have the upper 10 done, but after see how white you can actually go, I felt it would have looked stupid.

I spent 6 months looking around to find a decent dentist to do them. The reason I choose them is because he fits veneers nearly everyday and did some of the miss world contenstants teeth.

When you're spending that amount of money, you want it done by someone who knows what they are doing.

Strange, usually you have to wait 2 weeks as they need to made in a lab and sometimes come from the USA.

Ddd you have composite or porcelain ones done?

Composite I think. Yeah I do have to wait two weeks (go back on the 24th). To be honest I don't think temporary ones were needed really as visually the two main teeth look slightly better if anything and thats before the veneers come back from the lab.

I think he did state that he will have to wait 2 weeks for the veneers to be fitted.

Also I can barely tell the difference between the original teeth and the teeth that have been grinded down.

I wouldn't recommend veneers to fix wonky/discoloured teeth - better to go for proper orthodontics to realign teeth and then possibly consider whitening.

Having spent the last couple of years in braces and having badly discoloured teeth from a childhood being daft, I'm just about to start a course of professional whitening.

Dentist has taken moulds to produce the retainers needed for the solution - complete course is costing £360 inc retainers. We've already discussed the end results, which he has cautioned me will not be bright white - you can expect to go two shades whiter than your current colour.

Possible side effects are sensitivity and receding gums.

Should be fine if he has done moulds and retainers. Reason I went with porcelain veneers, was it was the only way to get the hollywood whiteness that I wanted. Yep call me a tart

I was at the dentist for a check up the other day. I enquired about the teeth whitening as they had it on offer for £180 I think it was. They basically said you can keep having it done until your happy with the colour, and its done with trays which are moulded to your teeth. Really considering it, anyone had it done?

Can make your teeth more sensitive also don't think they work with caps .

you get lower strips and upper strips. easy enough to use. you are advised to keep them on for 30mins. gets a bit tough after about 15 mins tho because of your saliva etc lol.

If i were you i wouldnt bother useing anything that whitens teeth, look into bio toothpaste

Companies like colgate etc.. dont have the patents for these new technologies and its in there best interests not to tell you about these products.

Get yourself to a dentist and ask their advice. I had impressions taken of my teeth and then bought some special bleach off them - these 'trays' then need to be coated with a special bleach and left on your teeth overnight, every other night for a few weeks. Within a short time you'll start to see big improvements.

But get it done professionally.

Don't the denists just use peroxide on your teeth with a powerful UV? You can get home kits off the bay, but it's harder doing it yourself and if you get 36% carbamide peroxide on your gum, you'll know.
