Crap driving school names

Not always the case - it'll depend on what kind of driving situations will be up ahead. What may seem like a pointless overtake at the time could be one that makes a lot of sense at the busy roundabout or crowded junction 600 yards down the road :)

You'd overtake into a busy roundabout? ;) Put the shovel down.

I was never overtaken as a learner, only passed one multi-lane roads such as dual carriageways. Everyone else does know better than you, this has been proven countless times.

Theres one near me called Focus, and they teach in a focus :p

Tbh I understand people who overtake a learner who is doing stupidly low speeds, like 15 in a 30, or 40 in an NSL zone. However, what really annoys me is when people see it as acceptable to overtake a learner who is doing the speed limit. No excuse other than to try and intimidate the learner and show off.

There's one round here called Andy W(something) School of Motoring. Not a bad name, I'll admit but they abbreviate it to AWSOM, and their adverts (that often come through the letterbox:/) say 'We're AWSOM!!', well it just looks like they can't spell Awesome to be perfectly honest :D

I was about to mention that, one of the people I shared a house with last year went with them, for the name bizarrely, resulting in the inevitable "You considered that a plus point?" comments from everyone. She didn't crash into my car though, which is a plus.

Seems most of these driving schools just copy each other, Ive seen Focus, bat out of L and Top Gear around here as well.

Theres a few of them around here in Leicester with self-employed instructors with there own schools running them with their own names lol or the town name, if you look at their cars from the sides they actually look like taxi's rather than driving instructors lmao, another silly thing i notice as well is that there is a guys who works for a big driving school around here but he uses a Peugeot 407 coupe to teach pupils with (seriously not like the car is not small enough to learn in lol!) and other cars like new Ford Focus's and there just simply to big to learn in really, driving schools like the AA and BSM use Focus's.

From 600 yards away? Yeah, I would. 600 yards is a over half a kilometre. It takes me seconds to overtake a learner. I'll "put the shovel down" if you get a calculator out, lol.

If you weren't overtaken as a learner it was probably because people were too scared you'd panic, swerve and crash in to them.

To be honest, people are only going to go out and buy something similar when they pass - better to learn in a slightly bigger car then, that go out and have no idea later

My first driving instructor had a Ford Ka. Horrible rattly little thing with unbelievably vague steering, worn out pedals and gearbox, and I never felt safe or secure on the roads with it. Going from that to my parents' '05 Astra for a bit of extra practice was an amazing experience; was far nicer to drive and although bigger, it didn't feel drastically less manoeuvrable and felt much more secure on the road.

The car I passed my test in was a Meriva. Odd choice for a driving instructor, but it actually felt OK to drive in. Maintained the nice aspects about learning to drive in a small car (being fairly easy to do the manoeuvres in), while not being so small that it gets blown off the road by oncoming traffic.

There's a "Bobs driving school" in Cambridge.

I learnt with the "AA". Talk about trying to get to the first page in the yellow pages..
