I looked at a few 530i sports and anything below £5k was dodgy (shedloads of owners or no sh)
I agree 100% - I wouldnt want to buy a sub £5k one because they all have various things wrong with them and mine is utterly mint, has 500 quids worth of premium tyres on it, full BMW SH and all the main failure points attended to. To the right person, (ie me if I was buying again) mine would be worth more than this. Most 530i's will need a grand or two spending to bring them up to scratch, mine doesn't.
BUT...
How do you attract them? Most people wont call about a 150k mile car if its miles more than all the other shabby ones. They'll never know its mint because they'll never even pick up the phone.
It's worth more to me than it'll ever be worth to somebody else, I knew this when I bought it. I'm applying for various jobs at the moment some of which will require travelling. Why buy a diesel when I can pile miles on a worthless yet awesome car like the 530i? I'm going to retrofit the Nav next year
