Grand Theft Auto 4

Wtf is this social club you lot keep banging on about? Is it that system to keep track of in-game feats or something? I recall a similar thing happening with the 360 version but it wasn't forced on us.

Is there any way of increasing mouse sensitivity for the menus? I have to pick the mouse up several times just to move from one side of the screen to the other. Adjusting mouse sensitivity only affects the gameplay. Not a major issue but still annoying.

The cutscenes are all pre-rendered are they? Seem to be.

Interestingly the game seems to run smoother when I turn the settings UP, go figure.

No the cutscenes are not pre-rendered. One easy way to tell, especially if the scene is outside on the street, is the lighting and weather is same as before you entered the cutscene. For example, before I started one mission it was raining, I then entered the mission which had a cutscene that was outside and it was still raining. I failed the mission and then upon retrying when the weather had changed the cutscene weather also changed to match it The lighting from the different time of day and the changes of clothes I had in between had also changed.

I know the game is just over 13Gb but I don't think it's taken up by the millions of pre-rendered combinations that is cutscenes x weather x time-of-day x clothes :)

I know they are done in real time on previous GTAs but here they seem less sharp (than the rest of the game), and also run at exactly 32fps according to fraps (why 32 I don't know). Whereas normally the framerate is variable.

The low graphic settings (from those pics on the last page) make the game look on par with san andreas. Texture wise anyway. Its a shame if thats what people have to play the game on to get the desired performance out of it. The medium screenshots seem to be a huge step up from that

Wait till you lot meet Badman and Jacob - Legends in their own right. They'll take away all your pain :D

They've had bloody ages to get it right. What they have done in reality is promised a PC release, then a week before it was due, thought "oh ****, we forgot to make it. I know, lets release the 360 version and not actually make it work".

SO if you purchased a car with different sized wheels would you wait for them to sort it out? I wouldn't, this thing shouldn't be even on the market..

Did you read my post regarding weather, lighting and clothes? :)

As for your constant 32fps, Rockstar could have limited the fps so it would be easier to sync speech to the character's mouth movements.

Did you even READ what I put?

I basically said that it was an outrage and that it shouldn't have even happened. Not that I'm prepared to wait!

Does anyone have a similar spec to me?

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5600 2.90GHz
2gb Ram
8800GT 512mb
1440 x 900
XP sp3

Is it going to be playable on my system on anything other than minimum settings?

2GB of ram will be a killer. I'd say that no, it won't be playable on anything other than minimum.

I can run on medium with spec in sig, but I have to run at 1680x1050 rather than my native 1920x1200 (which it just plain refuses to run).
