1. make "commandline.txt
2. move/copy this to the install folder (where the launcher is)
3. type in there "-norestriction" without quotation marks

Windows runs out of video memory all the time on a lot of games, bf2 is an old one Ive seen use 800meg for textures.

It should use the main memory instead to cache things, if you task swap out of the game and find your memory usage just dropped a lot then that was the texture memory being flushed in place of the desktop display.

So long as your pagefile is good it shouldnt crash out due to low memory even on a 256mb card but it will get increasingly laggy as it has to swap to main memory or even start using the hard disk as active memory.
That delay then might cause a crash in my experience

Do a google for VidMemWatchV3.zip

Or some other utils will display this info

Turn off AA first if you have problems

I tried it too, and the extra settings couldn't be unlocked. Ah well

Because I want to at least try. Otherwise I'm selling the game. It just looks crap on the settings it thinks I should have. :rolleyes:

Looks much better on the Xbox, I should not have wasted money on the PC version!

I'm really in two minds about buying this game tomorrow now. :confused:

I'm wondering what settings I'll be able to run.. if any? to get a good playable framerate. If it's not worth it, I'll wait for now.

Phenom 9950, 4GB, Vista 64, Zen9600GT (Overclocked Amp! version)

For those with the game any advice is welc ome.

The game is fantastic, I love it. But the PC version is a right pain in the ass to install and get running then the whole limited setting for gfxs is just plain stupid. I don't want to hear I can't play it on high, I want to try for myself and see damit!

There must be a way to remove that stupid restriction...as it stands now, My Xbox 360 is beating my PC in this game...

PC Specs:

E8200 - Clocked to 3Ghz
8800GTS 320 MB
4GB DDR 2
Dq6 - P35

Telling me my Xbox is better then this?

Well mine doesn't seem to run too badly, all set to the defaults and running @ 1600*1200 it doesn't seem slow and there's no stuttering or anything.

Q6600@ stock / 3870 (Stock) 6gig ram and vista 64.

Read the whole thread and you'll see this is normal. That card doesnt have enough video memory to run the game on high settings. If you do override it, all you'll get is godawful performance.

That's a similar setup to me (Q6600 and 9600GT) and the game is running decently for me at 1280x1024. I can't speak for higher resolutions.
