You said that all metal was rubbish. Then Johno Please said your list was rubbish -- I don't really think he had a problem with your list, just your opening comment. You jumped on an opportunity to get a dig in at metal, Johno Please digged back.

lol odd, pretty much spot on.

What distortion? Are you listening to 32kbps MP3's? :p

While that sounds cool in places, most of it sounds like "look at me shredding" but doesn't actually mean anything.

I much prefer the style of Children Of Bodom and Arch Enemy.

Lol cob is exactly like "look at me shredding". Wish they stop using the same old song writing formula, it gets old. Arch enemy is awesome though, shame the latest album doesnt sound that good. should have stuck with sneap to produce!

He had a point though, Metal in general is poop. I'm not going to say every metal song is rubbish because I haven't listened to them all (Thank god!). Metal is basically Hard Rock without the groove. Whilst I can appreciate the skill and technique I find it dull and soulless.

I was listening to Follow The Reaper yesterday and it has some really cool riffs and melodies in there aswell as shredding, its not all piddly widdly look at me stuff.

Couldnt agree more about not having Andy Sneap doing the new Arch Enemy album though, he is a great mixer/producer.

 get in the ignorance bin with Gilly.

without groove? lmao. Ever heard of Pantera? Lamb Of God?

"dull" would be the last word I would use, Coldplay.... thats dull.

Yes, I have heard them unfortunately. I used to live with a housemate that was a metal fan so was subjected to this inane form of ear torture regularly. I'd gos far as to say The Libertines had better riffs than most metal bands. Technically flawed and wonky, but had a swagger to it.

aaaaaaaaaahahaha keep it comming, this is a good laugh for a sunday afternoon.

Off out now though, hope theres some more when I come back :D

I'm not kidding, I'd put 'Up The Bracket' into my top ten riffs. It's simple but effective.

And I'm so glad I could amuse you, and like so much else in life, it's always funnier when there's an element of truth to it.

I'm confused.
When I were a lad Metal was Zeppelin, Sabbath and Judas Priest.

Its quite simple though, you either "get" metal or you don't.

You don't like it, thats fine, I cant stand Indie music, its uninspiring, often simple, very samey, the drums are boring, I could go on.

I especially don't like smack head musicians like Pete Doherty, I've watched countless Metal DVDs and met various metal guitarists and the caliber of human being is so much better than that joke of life.

Then you are just as narrow minded as the people you are aiming that statement at.

Music is music, you don't have to stick to a particular genre or be part of a scene, use your own ears and your brain. Don't let the sections in HMV dictate what you can and can't listen too.

And when did you meet Pete? or do you simply believe everything you read about him? Ozzy Osbourne used to worship Satan and Black sabbath were the most evil band on the planet....well, they seemed like it until someone bothered to ask them.

I like what I like, which happens to be Metal, is that ok?

I was made points about what I don't like about Indie music, nothing wrong with that.

I believe my own eyes, I've seen him arrested a few times for drugs offenses?, spitting at people, I think I saw him squirt blood at someone aswell from a syringe, oh what a lovely fellow.

I think I may have helped derail this thread a bit :D

Even in saying that you are limiting yourself, I don't believe that there isn't, hasn't ever been or never will be a song outside of that genre that you don't like, even if you won't admit it.

So as long as it's metal, it's good yeah? I like a lot of what I would describe as metal but there is also a hell of a lot of it that is crap, same with every genre.

oh good lord, a musician who takes drugs:eek: You won't find that kind of behaviour in the world of metal. I'm not particularly out to defend Pete but how about ****ing on the Alamo, threatening your wife with a shotgun, biting the head off a bat, taking enough drugs to melt little Pete's brain. Ahh, good old wholesome Ozzy to name but one.

and hey...stop editing:D

Not at all! If I like a song I hear on the radio, I don't care what genre it falls in I like it, I own 3 of Eminems albums, all of Foo Fighters and when I was younger I would listen to the fast and huge sounding songs by Vivaldi, Mozart or any other classical composer, but I admit, most of my time is spent listening to just Metal.

Theres also plenty of Metal I don't like, Power Metal, Black Metal and most Death Metal I dont get on with.

Ok point taken, but that seems to be more of an old school thing now, Metallica, Pantera, Ozzy. etc Its just I don't see many modern Metal bands going all rock n roll anymore if you get me.

As long as it isn't indie?

Well, I cant think of any I actually like.

I should probably just give up with whatever im trying to say, infact I dont know what Im trying to say :D

Maybe but metal musicians don't tend to strive for the celebrity limelight in quite the same way, people like Pete Doherty or Amy Winehouse use it to their advantage.

I'm not really that well up on current genre definitions, the boundaries shift all the time.
A good example I can think of is Nirvana, Radiohead an Muse, to me they have blurred the boundaries. When Nevermind was released it was considered indie, which soon became to grunge, radiohead were being hailed as the UKs answer to Nirvana and were lumped into this category for a while, shortly afterwards radiohead were Indie again.
Muse then appeared and were accused of being a carbon copy of Radiohead, however Radiohead are Indie and Muse became Rock and some go as far to describe them as Metal. It really makes little sense and doesn't matter to most. I just find it odd when people say that they don't like Indie or don't like metal etc etc, I mean, who makes the rules as to who fits in each category? Who even comes up with the names for the categories? You probably like some things that other people would call Indie, there are no real boundaries.

I should probably just give up with whatever im trying to say, infact I dont know what Im trying to say :D
I also like to ramble on, can you tell?:)
