Grand Theft Auto 4

Arghh, game just decided to crash on me before. Although I think its a pc issue not a game one :p

Lost picture.. sound was repeating over and over then 'No display output'

I reset my pc and went into event viewer incase anything funny was in there, and I spotted the below

Should Xbox be flagged up like that?

Sorted. I had a look on GTA Forums and one guy mentioned it was because of the benchmark.

With the patch if you run the benchmark then you lose sound in the game and you have to restart the game to get it back.

I found that out too, but with mine when I auto configure now it drops it too 800 x 600 where as before it what go to 1650 x 1050
 
Has anyone survived the attempt to get across the river before the game eventually opens it up ? , I tried swimming but police in boats shot me dead, tried flying chopper across & got shot by police chopper.:mad:
I stole a police car & drove over the bridge till you come to the blockade, then jumped over in a hail of bullets & into another police car & continued across, there was another blockade at the end & I just made it over & started to run before I was gunned down:p Is it possible to get away?

Yes, it's how I got the six-star for six minutes survival trophy. There are a few points on the map whereby you can get a car or other vehicle on to the train tracks - either by doing stunt jumps or driving a smallish car up the stairs to the train stations and getting on that way. Once you're in a car, follow the tracks round and you can cross over the river on the bridges and hide in the sub-Algonquin train tunnels. There is a community of bums you can hang around with until you get the trophy.

You can leave the train stations and go up to street level but you'll be quickly killed by all manner of cops/helicopters/FBI, etc.

I used the subway tunnels (cops can't get to you there), very easy to get to the other side.
 
The textures disappearing must be a game problem, as i played for well over an hr last night and it was fine, then today, as soon as i start playing it the problems back (i.e i could be standing next to a bank, spin around, and half of the road will disappear on the bank, it will just turn into a big solid colour thats through my legs so you can't see them, and also through the bottoms of cars so you can only see the tops of them too, then after a delay it goes right, fades in properly like the tardis), so i quit the game completely and restarted it, fine again, ran about for a good half hr or so with no problems.

I've got the same problem, and yes it seems to happen randomly - sometimes you start it and its fine, other times huge parts of the scenery appear missing.

I have this problem randomly (usually in former playboy x's apartment) and yes I have the 4870.

So is this a ATI issue or does it also happen to any Nvidia owners?

Yeah its randomly, just played about 20 minutes or so there and it started again. :(

Its bloody annoying.

I've had it a few times the way you described loadsa, I'm on a 8800GTX. I really think it is todo with video memory and it not laoding the textures properly.

Seriously now, has ANYONE completed "out of commission" (the last mission if you chose "revenge")?

It still won't let me climb into the ******* chopper. and now i'm down one mouse as I actually broke it hitting the button about 4 million times in a minute.

FFS. :mad:
