The *Official* Eve Online Thread

it is good fun, im currently buying ships from Jita and taking them to a mission hub, people seem quite happy to pay ~10% above jita prices to have the items in the area rather than 20 odd jumps away.

also funds my PvP escapades

Whats the turn around in putting them on the market and getting the money? Im a little impatient and get all excited witht eh thought having the isk quickly :p.

This is what i love in eve. My corp did this in a newly taken over 0.0 area and made billions with very little effot. There was so much more untapped potential there. We just didnt have to logistics man and man power to tap it all...

Buying very low and selling very high. But also manufacturing too where there were large margins. Add abit of invention into the mix and your making a ton of cash.

THats the way to do it!!! Theres loads of money in it. One thing I've noticed it is takes a lot of capital to make the decent returns in the first place!

i bought 8 battleships on Saturday morning, the last one sold today and i made about 8m on each so around 60m profit.

it sure does, buying faction/expensive ships at low prices and selling high is a good way too, bought a fenrir for 720 the other day and turned it into 790 in 30 mins.... and a machariel from 775 to 825 in a further 45mins

Quick question. Can you run both the "advanced graphics" and "classic graphics" clients on 1 PC at the same time? I know it was possible with WoW to install to 2 different locations for multiboxing would the same method work to do this?

I'm getting pretty into this and eventually would like 2 accounts (1 miner and something to defend him with and or haul) but would want to run 1 client on another monitor via a crappy PCI graphics card.

You dont have to have multiple installs. I reactivated both my accounts, my industrial/mining account and my combat account, and i can run 2 sessions of eve at the same time from a single copy of eve.

Using 1 adv graphics client and 1 classic graphics client would work if you want the 2nd account to use less graphics power, but i had no problem running 2 adv graphics clients at the same time and my PC isn't too powerfull.

Ok thanks Dist, I'll see how the 8800GTS 512 can hold up with 2 instances on max settings. Hopefully it will cope ok.

Also, EVEMON rocks!

OMG...

If you are currently munching mince pies I suggest not going on to the forum and clicking Dage's finger post.

I feel ill now

As long as you're not displaying both at the same time, it's not an issue- I have my eve client in the background pretty much all the time and the performance hit is pretty trivial, even for playing other games.

Hi

My trial account has just run out and I'm in 2 minds whether or not t continue my subscription.

How do you guys pay for your subscriptions. Can you get things a little cheaper by paying in dollars or are the subscription rates affected by exchange rates?

Just trying to figure out the most cost effective way as at the moment I feel it is a little too expensive with respect to the level of enjoyment I am getting from this game but maybe things will change once I get more involved.

Thanks

From reading this and other threads about eve it takes a good 2/3 months before you really 'start' the game properly.

Like most MMO's you don't get to the good stuff straight away, give it another month or so and explore the other aspects of the game. I'm enjoying mission running and mining and I'm not even a week into the trial, can't wait to get stuck into manufacturing etc.

Hi Mike, I generally pay via Game Time Cards from somewhere like shatteredcrystal.com, I'm not sure if they are the most efficient way to pay but it suits me. If anything prices have maybe gone up a bit due to the pound falling against the euro & dollar.

If you're not sure about continuing I think you can take a month with a credit card but a GTC is 2 months minimum.

Damn currency fluctuations! Might be better to use a CC and sub for one month and see how it goes.

Get into a good sized player corp as early as possible, preferably linked to someone here, then you should get a much better level of experience/fun, be it mining  in groups, high sec wars, pirating in low sec or gate camping in 0.0 :D

Oh ****, my account has just expired and I'm skint..

I take it there is no leeway in the offline training (it was in the middle of a 16 day one) It's stopped dead now until I resub?
