Bioshock £3.49 on Steam now!

as long as you can ignore the repetative nature of it all, yes

Yep I enjoyed it for several hours but then you realise it all looks the same, even when you access new areas. You are doing the same tasks over and over and it eventually becomes a chore, like work. At that point I uninstalled it, revoked the licence and sold it.

Just bought:

Bioshock
Stalker: Clear Sky
Trials 2
Audiosurf
Shadowgrounds
Shadowgrounds: Survivor

All for £24.94. Bargainlicious

id agree with that. i bought in on release and wasnt all that impressed with it. certain aspects are amazingly well done but the level design isnt, nor is the game play itself - find this to get that, use that to unlock this, fine this the get that ect ect ect.

i played through it again when they released the patch with the new plasmids and such but it really wasnt any better.

Damnit, I just game my birth year as 2008 (default) when going on to the steam page. It won't let me buy it now  What do I do?

lol ive done that before. close down steam and restart it and you should be ok. or, if you did it from your web browser, trying cleaning the cookies and and restarting that.

Bioshock, Portal, Doom I & II for £8.96. Lovely stuff. This was good timing as I was about to buy Bioshock and have been wanting Portal for a while (made the stupid choice of buying TF2 instead of the Orange box).

Eh? It's a while since I played it now, but just off the top of my head, I remember a sprawling underwater forest and lush garden, that deserted trading market area, the heavily industrial/mechanised area of the core, and the large concert hall, theatre, and art gallery type places of the Sander Cohen stage, each of them realised beautifully, as well. "It all looks the same" is an accusation that's levelled at a lot of FPS games nowadays, but Bioshock strikes me as pretty much the last game where that complaint could actually apply.

I agree that the objective-driven progression (go to A, obtain B, continue to C, and so on) was a bit uninspired and did grate in places, but they at least did a good job of tying it to the plot, and I considered it a fairly minor irritation in an otherwise great game.

That's the thing. With each level, the principle core formula never changed and it was just the same thing over and over. I bought the game after being pretty much freaked out by the early 360 demo.

3hrs into the game and I was bored out of my mind. It wasn't scary like Condemned, it was just repetitive. I was led to believe that this game had RPG ala character development and yet there was none of that. That said, the storyline and general artwork were superb and that is why I bought the game on Steam - at that price it's hard to ignore.

I tried to play it a second time round and couldn't even manage that, and I normally replay my games quite a few times.

Interesting how the Shadowgrounds pack is £12.59 yet Shadowgrounds is 2.99 and the Shadowgrounds Survivor is 4.49 = £7.48.

Hopefully people won't buy the pack and get an extra £5 ripped out of them.

Woah Bioshock is twisted and pretty damn scary! I almost cant play it lol. Should I kill the little defenceless girl or save her? Mwuhahahaha

Well from my experience of playing the game completely through it's more worthwhile to save the girl.

Gutted for me as i bought Valve Complete Pack for £52 on the 23rd and then it went down in the sale! :p

May go buy BioShock. Had it on 360 but will probably be so much better on a PC. How well does it run on say a Core 2 Duo 2.8, 4GB DDR3 RAM and a 9600GT?

I'm sorry I'm even asking this, but is there ANYTHING you actually enjoy playing? I can't say as I've ever seen a positive comment from you about any game, and even if the style of the game is to your liking, you moan like **** about it not being 60fps!

you'll be able to pretty much max it out :)

There were points were my framerate dipped a little with max settings on a 9600GT @ 1680x1050, but still entirely playable :)
