Zune or iPod?

Walkman >*

36 hours of beautiful quality music... :p

And FWIW iPods and iPhones are (generally) not expensive compared to comparable products (the iPhone is quite cheap compared to products in a similar bracket). Only the touch is really expensive but compared to an Archos player there is little difference too.

Apple have a great ability to be able to make something seem expensive while actually still be quite cheap.

And :D at the Zunes, good job I went for my walkman now.

EDIT: Is this thread going through a bit of pruning? :p

Can the Zune play .FLAC?

Far too overpriced for what I'd want one for. If I wanted to watch stuff, I'd use a computer. Likewise the net. Likewise emails. Likewise games. I dont want yet another thing to put in my pocket. And iTunes is dire.

Horses for Courses. I use it when commuting to work, listen to music, watch some shows, it saves me carrying a laptop or a netbook, which is more expensive and another expense.

iPod Classic 120GB + Sennieser CX300 = win

People seem to **** off itunes but once you take the time to learn how to use it correctly its a joy to use.

Other way round tbh.

Well yeah for the rest of their products.:p

But I think iPods and to a lesser extend (due to the contracts) iPhones play a lot off the rest of the "expensive" stuff Apple does, so people seem to think they are expensive in comparison to comparable equipment.:)

I dunno, I find that its really clunky and unintuitive, unlike the rest of Apples stuff. it was doing my head in the other day, can't remember why but I do know I was saying something like "Why the **** isn't that in the right click menu, you useless pile of ****?!".

I have nothing specifically against Apple, its just that they over price their products, and just win customers over with gimmicks, aka iphone, which even with the 3G version still has less features than most phones of a similar price.

lol ;/

As for iPods I think a lot of people just rant about them because they don't like Macs and have never even tried an iPod.

Ipods seem to have come down in price lately, which is good, especially the touch, the iphone however is still a joke, it is still far behind a lot of other devices on the market in a lot of repsects, the original was absymal quality for money.

When I got my first mp3 player about 4 years ago I had to decide between the Creative Muvu 2 4GB and the ipod (1G?) 10GB, both were the same price. Same with the new walkman I just bought.:)

True the iPhone is behind a lot of devices but when compared to phones it generally is trying to compete against (touch screen WM/sybian devices) it's pretty cheap, probably because it can't compete.

How? No MMS or Flash but the interface and hardware is miles ahead of anything else.

The interface is pretty good but hardware wise it's like a Pentium 4 against an i7. Have a look at the Touch HD and SE Xperia, their hardware is leagues ahead in terms of power and gadgets. And you can't use the excuse that they somehow 'need' the power because they are WM devices as it's rubbish.:p

Once you set it up to how you like its fine, im usually very fussy and if i dont get on with something it ends up on ebay so my ipods done well to last a year without me being upset with it. The ease of Syncing all my music and downloading all my Podcasts to my PC and then they just end up on my ipod without me having to do anything outwieghs any niggles i have with the device

Think that about covers it for me.

GPS? - It does have one :S An excellent one as well. (3g)
VOIP - It has Skype, or any other app you want.
Camera - fair enough
Video - fair enough
Battery - fair enough
Flickr - It can
Expansion - Meh 16GB Flash Memory

Media wise it's literally an iPod touch so that ranks pretty high up.

The first model with no 3G is pretty poor.

I've still got an ipod classic (30GB), and a year old ipod touch which are both still the same as the day i bought them. The arguments for ipods having poor build quality is rubbish imo as neither of mine or those belonging to people i know have fell apart, or stopped working ever.

I'm not an apple fanboy either, infact have only ever used a mac for a couple of hours before and didn't like it compared to a pc. The only apple products i do like are ipods and iphone.

rubbish Camera with no flash
no GPS
no expansion slot
no replacable battery
no MMS
no Video calling
no video capture
no support for voip
no flickr integration (I love this! :D)
Locked to O2

Think that about covers it for me.

Aside from GPS, the replacement battery (what's the point? I change my phone every few years and it doesn't need to last forever) and expansion slot (which face it, lots of other phone with 8G memory doesn't have it too), I can do all the others on mine through jailbreak.
