Major child scare last night - be careful

if i can tell my child is lying to me, i will be very upset towards him/her i would say .. "!!! if i can tell your lying, how do you expect the police or anyone else to fall for it???" i would then begin to try to teach those skills..

So you already consider that a good skill to raise your children with is the ability to lie to the police? Instead try teaching them right from wrong in the first place, that takes real effort and patience.

It's impossible to explain to someone who isn't a parent and I hope dm is right, my eldest is 7 and obviously I can tell when something is amiss, I can't always put my finger on how. My parents can do the same with me and I'm 35.

Judging by your sig you seem to be under the impression that being underhand and performing illegal activities is cool and you do it largely to impress others, you will no doubt deny this, if you do, even I will know you are lying and I can't even see your face.

As it says in your sig, you like to argue, can you simply drop the matter and admit defeat? That takes a bigger person. That is something your parents should have taught you to do.

No, L. Lounge is more full of 'beer lariness' rather than anything more sinister.

I know of people who claim to have been spiked but clearly just drank way, way too much. Not saying that regarding Dave's daughter, but it is possible for it to occur.

I hope she has fully recovered.

Two daughters but I also helped to bring up 2 nephews and I know them inside out.

You are obviously very close to both your daughters and to your nephews.

A lot of people aren't that close to their parents, despite their parents being really very good parents. Some people will come home from school and tell their parents everything about what their friends have done and said, and who's not talking to who, whereas some people just won't. The former type's parents will be able to tell when they aren't telling the truth, because they know them inside out, the latter won't be able to tell, but that doesn't mean that they havn't been a good parents.

The reason I asked if you had any sons was because, usually, boys are less inclined to tell their parents every-little-thing.

First I'd like to say you have my full sympathey for your daughter in what has happened, it's shocking, sickening and horrible and I can only hope that shes perfectly fine now.

1 - She won't lie to me because I'll see her body language.
If she does it on the phone I will hear her voice change.
If I ever found out they had lied to me they know Daddy would not be happy.
Daddy has always let them have and do whatever they want as long as they're straight with me.
They don't even pay a penny in their upkeep and earn more than I do.

Secondly, if you honestly believe that simply because a parent cannot tell a child is lying means they mustn't give a damn. That your child has not lied to you once in your life without getting away with it. Well... I honestly am speechless on that matter. I didn't believe people were so nieve these days.

Children, no, people lie all the time. Yes, there are blatant lies that you cannot get away with and you will get caught out. But there are many, small lies that you can get away with and fool anyone with.

Finally... I'm shocked that your daughter is 21... living at home, earning more than you do, and not paying a penny rent or towards any bills.

Babbying her a bit much here surely? Do you do her washing, taxi her around, cook all her meals for her also?

Again my innitial thoughts are with your daughter, but some of the posts in this thread just meant I couldn't help but post these thoughts.

Or teach them not to break the law, not to get into trouble with the police, and teach them right from wrong in the first place... and avoid that situation completely??

i have my own rules, not yours, i certainly dont do things because i think their cool, the sig is one from another site which i combined the satan calling the shoe store for souls flash! with downloads! make me a new sig with a car or a woman and the specs and id put it on!

i know right from wrong, i will still do it anyway in certain situations, how is it avoided?

i certainly do admit defeat if i know i am wrong, but i am not wrong, you could flip this round on the other side, why do they think they are right 100%?

ive said your daughter could very well tell you the truth, and perhaps everyone you know, but this is not universal, and believing it makes you naive, regardless if its true for you.
