Yawara! Season 1 Box Set (S) (eps 1-40)
New - Normally delivered within 7 to 10 days
RRP : $134.99 - Normally : £107.99 - 5% Off - : £102.59

off that site ouch!!
on the good side i did not expect it to be available to the uk(mailed the publsher in the summer and was told not for the UK )
on the bad side ...that is TOO expensive :(
And they haven`t even `tried` to make a dub of it
What is worse is by my reckoning there will be 3 sets if each is £100 that comes to about £300 no bleeding way

Have bookmarked that site mate, looks like quite a few things are cheaper there plus as you say they are a UK company so if anything goes wrong easier to get hold of on phone

Be careful of the sake :Dand bring us back some Pocky:p
Well It`s OUT on the wired;)
Intro has Yumi, Yoshino and Shimako skipping in and out of `space/time?`portals :D:D:D
Allegedly anyway;)

I've always had good service from them, and whilst they are not the cheapest way of getting sstuff, (that would probably be a TRSI sale), they are reasonable for the increased level of convenience.

Sake's fine, (in moderation of course) and you can get Pocky anywhere .... although most of the stuff you find in the UK is Thai.

As for the other matter ... haven't had a chance to look around yet and it's not where I normally look ... no rush though ...

Me too, dark chocolate preferably :D

Ahh ... you mean "Men's" Pocky in the Dark Green box .... what you really want is the chocolate orange flavour dessert Pocky ... bigger and fatter ... that is very very nice ...

It's be a R1 release they've imported instead of a R2 release ... the publisher would have been talking about which region its officially released in.

anti hero, lets see these may work -
heroic age,
straight jacket,
bubblegum crisis (theres more than one version but I'd pick tokyo 2040 - most recent)
s-CRY-ed
trinity blood
gun x sword
burst angel
black lagoon

and as you like please teacher, you should watch onegai twins (please twins) as its a follow on/side story to it.

That's an animeago release isn't it?
IIRC they're pretty strict about who they sell to directly, as they don't really want to deal with foreign sales too much (and they stick to their licence pretty much to the letter from what i can make out).

The cost is damn high, but it's a niche title :(
However if you look at Right stuff (who I think are doing 33% off RRP with a coupon code on their site until tomorrow night), you might find it cheaper.

Just finished Fate/Stay, which was ok (not great, but definitely worth watching), rather a sad ending though :(

I may start on Mosepeda tomorrow, either that or rewatch one of the series i've been wanting to watch again for a while.

Tell me about it :(
part of my last order from mt fuji was made up of Thai pocky, all stuck together and tasted very salty(threw a pack and 3/4 to the birds)
sent them an e-mail to complain too, they replied saying that they would not use the thai stuff for my orders again but no replacement :(

How was Japan mate? I've been wanting to go there for a while.

Well I did write a reply to this but the web browser decided to eat it

Japan was excellent, by far the best holiday I've been on and I'd go back there tomorrow if I could.

We went on an organised tour, (as we are very good at missing obvious things if left to our own devices), through Thomas Cook. We looked at the various things available and settled on their Samurai Experience tour (I would link but their websites not working correctly for me).

This went to:
Tokyo
Hakone
Kyoto
Hiroshima
Osaka
with connections between them made via bullet train. Very well organised and unlike some of the other tours on offer you get a reasonable amount of free time. When we go again we are actually doing the same trip but skipping some of the excursions to give us more time in certain places, (Akihabara, Den Den Town), to allow for more shopping :)

It's a bit pricey though, although you can save quite a bit of money while you are there. When we went there were two groups of people on the tour, the ones who ate in the hotels and had sandwiches for lunch and those who ate out as much as possible ... we fell into the latter group, particularly after seeing the price of the meals in the hotel on the first night, (hotel: £65/head, Outside: £7-12/head for a good meal with a large beer ..... mmmm roast port curried udon mmmm).

Shopping is great of course .... in places like Akihabara you are left thinking which thing to get instead of searching for things to get ... its awesome :) ... but even in normal non-specialist bookshops in malls you come across manga sections which are larger than some whole bookshops over here! I've got places I want to revisit in Akihabara, Hiroshima and Den Den Town ... may need to get another suitcase coming back, (we were worried last time we had blown our weight limit for the return journey but we were miles under (30kg limit each for the two of us and we only hit 38kg in total)

Language isn't a problem as long as you know a few words/phrases and smile a lot ... everyone we met was friendly and seemed to want to help you. We went out on a Saturday night for a wander around Shinjuku and despite there being many thousands of people out I felt an aawful lot safer walking around than I do in the UK, (even taking into account that I live in Nottngham). Only saw about a dozen non-Japenese in a couple of hours wandering around too ...

I would recommend it as a destination :)

I enjoyed Fate/Stay ... found it different, but a lot better, than I was expecting. I agree with you about the ending though.

I've still got visitors at the moment so can't really watch to much (although I did watch some random episodes yesterday). May put Tokyo Godfathers on this afternoon as I picked it up cheap yesterday.

I like the cold green tea from Mt Fuji :) .... if I want Pocky I tend to use the Oriental Mart store here in Nottingham, (or there's a little Thai shop where my Parents live down south). Tend to snack more on Wasabi peas/peanuts more though :)

I do have a few hours in London at the end of the month though so I'll probably be hitting the Japan Centre (and having lunch there :))

Prefer the new OP and ED music over the old ...

That sounds amazing. :)

Garnet is the name of the single containing Kawaranai Mono. Damned if I can see it for sale anywhere any more though.

Back in the office so I can pick things up .... hehehe .... includes this CD, (playing via headphones as I type now :) .... **** it's good). Also picked up a couple of the artists other CD's having listened to some of her other tracks via Youtube. Source was the Rainforest peoples' JP site.

Other spoils currently sitting on my desk are:

When They Cry Vol. #6 (Series Completed!)
Rozen Maiden Traumend Vol. #3 (Series Completed!)
Code Geass Pt2 LE
Lucky Star Vol. #5 LE
Kujibiki Unbalance Vol. #2 (Manga)
Genshiken - Official Fanbook (Finally!!!!!)

(and Rosario+Vampire Vol. #1 (Manga) as that's what I'm reading at the moment).

:)

I used to watch a shedload of anime , one of my earliest and still one of my favourite series was Sazan Aizu ( 3x3 eyes ) from Yuzo Takeda. Shame the anime never really had an ending. Others that immediately spring to mind are martian successor nausicaa , Evangelion, City Hunter etc.

Also followed the Naruto for a good few years and then bleach but things just got a little repititive and I eventually drifted away from them. I guess you could say the same for anime as a whple. Would really love to watch a decent OAV to get me back into the swing of things.

Any really good recommendations?

I can't really say any new OVA's (standalone) spring to mind, they seem to be generally replaced by short TV series, or as part of a larger series (Ah My Goddess for example) these days.

I don't think there is the money these days in shorter standalone (non H) OVA's :(

Re 3x3 eyes, aye that is still one of my favourite OVA's, and still one I wish they would pick up again and either finish off, or possibly redo from the start (like they've done with AMG in the past couple of years), it had so much promise and is still one I go back and rewatch every year or so :(

Depending on how far back you're willing to go, and how long a series you're willing to try you might like Black Lagoon (fairly recent, it's 13 episodes for the first series, 13 for the second and they've just started/are starting a third in Japan), it's a mix of action and humour.

FullMetal Panic might appeal to you as well, iirc it's available in various "thinpack" (cheap) rereleases now, and for something completely different Victorian Romance Emma - a series that was like a complete breath of fresh air for me (it's a period drama type series of all things. and pretty much completely different from anything else i'd seen).

woohoo - third series of black lagoon (trundles off to find more info :)) - quality in my opinion as well. Might like burst angel too (theres a series and a prequel ova which kind of fits in) - take black angel and add in a mech :)

FMP is quite entertaining too.

Rahxephon springs to mind due to evangelion.

As for a good story (assuming you're willing for 50 episodes) has to be eureka seven.
I'd also say rozen maiden due to it being different to a lot of things.

Well, working from home today so had a few things to watch :) ... finished off the second and third disks of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha ... thought it was quite good, although probably the weakest in the Nanoha series. Reasonable amount of action, although I think that type was done better in Shana, and ok characters (although I prefer them to be older).

Also watched Lucky Star 5, more of the same as the rest of the series so good, and Rozen Maiden Traumend 3 ... again very good and a nice set of episodes.

Thanks Werewolf,

Whilst the 'Victorian Romance Emma' doesn't seem like mt cuppa tea I'll check out the other recommendations. Someone else recommended Serial Experiments Lain to me , so I'll give that a look too.

not seen shana yet (on my to watch list though) but I'll agree in the characters could have been older, especially during the changing of clothes (didn't really feel right if you get my meaning). Luckily StrikerS sorts that aspect out :)

Rozen Maiden Traumend 3 ... again very good and a nice set of episodes.
See I told you it was good :p

Earth[Tera].bin don't miss my couple of recommendations too, under werewolfs, as they're worth looking into too :)
