January Transfer Window Thread - rumours and signings here

:D Kaka. He just seems like a decent guy and he's certainly lived up to that by turning down the offer. About time a footballer showed a little loyalty.

If Ronaldo lost the arrogance and stopped talking to the media about Madrid a hell of a lot more people would respect the guy. You don't need to be cocky just because you are good. Messi isn't and Kaka certainly isn't and thats the two other top players in the world. He has bags of talent, yet he lacks the personality to go with it.

Fans love loyalty.

Man Utd supporter here by the way.

Wenger's final season in France. Wenger turned down approaches by Bayern Munich and the France national team out of loyalty for Monaco, only to be fired after a poor start to the 1994-95 season

Still doesn't explain why he choose to go to Japan over all of the European leagues.

Really, what fans are they then? :D

In all seriously whilst he was not a flop, he no way had the talent to be in our starting 11.

The ones I go to matches with.
He was not good enough for our first XI, no, but I never said he was. He is however a better player than many we still have around.
What annoys me is when people say Smith was/is a bad player, he's not. He can tackle, pass and work a backline as hard as anyone, Newcastle used him wrong and he couldn't play his preferred position at United due to superior players (Nistelrooy and Rooney).

All you had to do was look at some of his performances for us and people could see he was a very good player. I'm glad we had him, but at the same point, it was the worst move for his career.

Smith wasn't nearly as good. You could argue Rio didn't improve, he stayed at the same level. I suppose you gave him more of a chance, he was out of the shadow of two better players after the move. The Dirty Frog didn't improve, he was class before and during his time at Leeds.
Smith became more versatile, Rio has become the best defender in the World and Eric improved massively.

Radio 5 reporting C Ronaldo has registered CR9 as a trademark

Oh and co incidently Real Madrid have offered him the number 9 shirt

Kaka will be a huge huge lure for other players. Its not like Milan have the financial clout to bring in players of a similar ability to play around him. City have the money to bring in Kaka and then pay the wages of the other stars that will interest.

What they should really do then is spend 10 million a year on wenger.

Manu had the financial muscle in the EPl to bully players away from clubs for years. Chelsea came along and keep blowing it by changing the manager on a whim.

I have my fingers crossed City land Kaka just for the pure entertainment of listening to the bleating about ruining the game from fans of teams that have already been happy to sit and watch their club do the same.

Yeah just so you know, Berlusconi has personal assets of $9.4 billion, so Milan can buy who they want, when they want.

City Waving 100 million under his nose is not going to impress him, or any of his players.

I doubt its anywhere near that anymore - considering the financial markets (but your theory still probably holds that £100m is insignificant ):)

It doesn't matter if he's not willing to spend money on the team though does it. All the noise coming from Milan is the team is in need of finances to spend on the squad, which is long overdue.

Still doesn't explain why [Wenger] choose to go to Japan over all of the European leagues.

Wenger wanted to time to experiment with coaching and tactics away from the constant pressures of the big European leagues. It obviously turned out to be a very smart move.

One thing to remember is that with the strength of the Euro against the Pound, for European clubs at the moment there's probably a lot of value in our transfer market, whereas for British clubs looking to buy players in the Eurozone it's now a whole lot more expensive.

BBC said:
Manchester City have sensationally withdrawn their bid for Kaka, and will instead unveil another signing from Serie A in the next 48 hours - "not in the Kaka league". (Arabianbusiness.com, 0915 GMT)
