£19k from nowhere

They are duty bound to freeze his account, they would be remiss if they didn't. It's peculiar that it comes as the result of him being the one to tell them about the irregularity but that's irrelevant really - they would take the same action regardless.

If they didn't freeze the account then the OP or anyone else with official or unofficial access to it could withdraw funds, etc. The bank is operating on the basis that the funds in there are fraudulent so they have to do their due diligence before they can release it and potentially let criminals take the money away.

From an innocent individuals perspective I agree it sucks - which is why going into a branch and explaining the situation would I'm sure be able to help him. Frankly I don't really see this as any different than telling your bank that you've lost your card - they will void it even if you subsequently find it again, and you'd be in the same situation.

Well at least his story doesn't go on to say it just turned up, it goes on to say how it's actually ended up worse for him.

Also it's a bit rich coming from you.
Epic.

Talk about shoot yourself in the foot... if I was in Talibs13's position I'd steer well clear of commenting on threads that talk about windfalls.

On a semi related note. I recently had my card scammed, Barclays Indian call centre wasn't much help, i asked to be put through to the fraud department that had sent me a letter (no contact details on the letter) The guy there was quite helpful, but he was defiantly not customer facing as one of the "security" questions he asked me was what petrol station i had visited 6 months ago!

Barclays have been very good with me, never been with another bank. I always call in the middle of the day to avoid India and they have reimbursed me within 24 hours on two fraud cases and sent me a new card.

One time the system stopped my card as I filled my car up in Lancashire using my card then a few hours later used it again in the middle of Scotland to fill up. IT was back working within 30 mins of me phoning them. Sytem thought I was in two places at once as it didn't take me long to get there ;)

I would be wanting some compensation for your honesty now they have cut you off. That's simply not acceptable, especially without warning, when you have clearly done nothing wrong in the first place. Crimunal until proven otherwise eh? :(

Maybe the great man we call our "Prime Minister" has decided that instead of bailing all the banks out with hundreds of billions of our taxes that instead he is going to give every person with a bank account a nice little windfall to get us buying stuff again (instead of expecting us to borrow from banks to buy)

Seriously though, Just call the bank as there is someone out there that is going to be really worried that they are missing £19000.

Go to your nearest branch, take a seat, don't move till they give you some of YOUR money to buy essentials etc. Short of calling the police to remove you there's not much they can do.

**** you. At least mine was actually true.

And LOLS at your brother.

Rather than degrade into childish insults and cursing how about maturely say otherwise?
LOLS at my brother? What are you trying to say?

Do you know who you sound like? Azab, and Cybersnipa, oh wait, same person.

Considering all the insults you said to me in my other thread, i think the childish one is you.

what you should do . . .

like the recent "I sent my eBay item to the wrong buyer" thread . . .

Withdraw all the money - sell it on the sunday market and then make out you only have 1/2 left and claim it was sent to you as unsolicited cash - therefore its legally yours anyway - you didnt ask for them to make the deposit!!!!!!!

LOL
