£19k from nowhere

Well at least his story doesn't go on to say it just turned up, it goes on to say how it's actually ended up worse for him.

Also it's a bit rich coming from you.

Careful pointing that out about him, last post I made similar to that resulted in him posting a torrent of abuse and bizarre threats, oddly the Don's ignored it.

Edit: Ah, I see he's started on you now, lol

To be fair they're bound to err on the side of caution and put a hold on any accounts suspected of being related to fraud until they've concluded their investigations.

I'm sure if you go into your local branch you will be able to sort something out there and then.

Indeed. When I had money stolen from my account they froze my cards, and I had to get cash over-the-counter using ID.

You also might want to think (OP) that unblocking your card could leave someone in on your / their money.

For example, I believe that's how my money was stolen.. they got my details, blocked the card by trying random phone top ups, then when I rang up to unblock it they just made large payments online knowing it would be fine.

Got it back after a few form filling exercises, but I would definitely recommend visiting a branch.

Ringing them was hell.

So just issue the person a new card, takes a total of 0 minutes given how the large bank branches in the USA can issue a new card ON THE PREMICES, none of this "wait a week for us to mail you one from China" business as we get here.

I get your point but we don't live in the USA :p

He'd be within his right to request a card, but don't just ask for it to be unblocked without checking payments/debits on a statement (which is a bit hard to take seriously considering the inward £19,000).

I think I'm right in saying that he's with HSBC, if HSBC have this service in their USA banks they sohuld be able to have the same service offered in their UK branches.

Alternatively they should be able to have a card out to him next day.

Keep us updated, geniunely hoping everything works out.
Still curious to see the statement/loaf pics though, I know I would :)

Considering all the insults you said to me in my other thread, i think the childish one is you.

Go link everyone to it, I don't mind, most people agree Talbs man.
Just make sure to be meticulous about what you quote and if it's in reply to something you said, that too.

I'm pretty sure I offered advise from my personal experience, as did others.
Except you pick out the little praise you had and anyone who didn't offer good news, was an insult to you.

I've only known my girlfriend for a couple of months and only met for 10 days, you can say what I said about yours because frankly, you could be right.

Exactly.

They don't have the ability to do it on the premises in the UK and it will normally take more than a day to get a card out.

I love compulsive liars on the internet. If there is anything more sad than telling people you know lies to impress them or make yourself feel better, it's lying to people you don't know on the internet. :D

As pointed out earlier in the thread, this is blatantly (looks to me at least) the cheque scam. Deposit a dodgy cheque in your account, get you to hand the money back (keeping a little tip) after a couple of days then the banks spotting the mistake and taking the money from your account.

Isnt the op the same guy who had a thread in motors talking about his van being stolen then later in the thread people discovered he was only about 15 or so and he changed his story?

From spending some time working in Fraud, including working with a number of banks this smells so much like BS that it is laughable. The story changes to include points other people have made...e.g the whole account being frozen was mentioned by someone else about a dozen posts before he said it.

Spoke to HSBC on tues and they didn't tell me much except the name of the person who payed in the cheque - unfortunately I did not recognise. Said it looked suspicious - no **** - and their fraud department was investigating it. Gave me their number to contact if I needed more info.

I go food shopping that night and get to the checkout and debit card has apparently been stopped. So am without food. Would have been nice to be informed about this, don't u think???

I rang up today to find out wtf and, despite getting referred by a further 2 people, the fraud department tells me to get lost cos they're "not a customer facing department" - nice. That's when my phone ran out of credit (which I can't top up without my debit card). So now I am completely in the dark and without money. Someone was meant to ring me back today but apparently they did not have time.

HSBC have completely screwed me. Wish I had just done a runner with the cash tbh since they don't seem to value my co-operation at all.

It all sounds a bit like a film i watched recently, first you get money in your account, next thing you know you are having military grade weapons delivered to your house and a supercomputer is forcing you to commit acts of terrorism.

Just be careful, Eagle Eye could be after you.

Most people lie to look big, rich, have things others don't, to be another gender, Azab.

To lie like this is...self destructive?? :(

The problem is that these people forget that the majority of the population are of a greater intellect.

The Azab thing was just a little too strange... it kind of highlights the high level of mental illness that exists. I guess this also must be linked to mental illness.

Anyhow, made me laugh... so not all is lost.

I think we should start banning idiots from the forum just because they actually think we're that dumb we'll believe some of the ridiculous stuff they come out with.
