Headset recommendations for the 360

Ive went and ordered the AXpro, im not too fussed about the wires, more about having good sound quality and being able to use them with my pc, 360 and ps3.

My girlfriend bought me a set of Earforce X1 headphones for xmas, i really like them.

Considering they're only a stereo headset they sound equal to if not better then my 5.1 speedlink medusa's i have on my PC. The X1's are a lot more comfy too.

At the moment I have the sound from my 360 routed through my PC (not a prob as the PC is always on) and then played back on a set of RF wireless Sennheiser headphones.

All works well when playing single player games, especially being able to hear audio notifications from the PC whilst gaming but becomes a problem when playing online and needing the xbox headset.

So are there any RF wireless headphones that can take multiple feeds (would accept one at a time if only option) and also support the xbox headset functions (cable from headphones to controller pad also not a problem)?

hope this isn't hijacking the thread but does anyone know some cheaper options for headphones either wired or wireless that have the microphone?

After reading reviews of the X4s I was tempted to get a set, was happy to go with IR but then I noticed that the only 5.1 feed it can recieve is from the xbox, not a secondary feed (only accepts a second stereo feed).

Anyone know of any wireless headsets that work with the xbox but can also be used with other 5.1 feeds?

I bought an optical switch for a fiver to up the inputs on my A40s.

Far better to get the headset you want than go to another one just because it has more inputs.

Im liking my Axpros, a vast improvement over my monitors speakers, just tried on the Ps3 at the moment, not sure of the voice quality, ask Rp2000, but it does allow me to lower the incomming voice comms or increase the volume for it, depending of i want to hear people, also has a slider for mute or talk, usually have it set to mute, and flick it on when i need to talk, saves all the background noises getting thru and annoying teammates.

I'm thinking of just getting the X1's. Purely because the only time I will use them is rockband, is it really worth spending the extra.

So I take it you have to plug into the optical port on the back of the AV cable?

If you get the X1's Dannyjo could you post a mini review?

I too am an expectant father now, so something like the X1's would be ideal to muffle the sound of gunfire from my late night CoD sessions.

That's assuming I'm going to be awake enough to be up late at night! Of course, there is always the early morning sessions when baby won't go to sleep!

No the phono RCA's, red and white as its just a stereo signal. They are like Y shaped connectors so they still connect to your TV (with component and VGA anyway) then the green fly lead for the sound. If HDMI its either the dongle or the actual TV phono outs, or of course just stick them straight in the headphone jack if the TV has one.

The bit that deals with the digital signals is the pricey part of most headphone kits so you wont be using an optical lead.

Of couse I will let you know, I should be fine for a year. It's when the Mrs goes back to work my gaming time is over.

Ah right I'm screwed then for X1's as the screen I use is the Dell 2405. What about the other headsets can I use those with the Dell or am I ****ed. For some reason I thought they just plugged into the xbox controller.

Is there anywhere in the UK that actually sell the X3 or X4's yet?

X3's and X4's are on pre-order for 30/01/09 on several competitors (X4 priced from £127 to £130).

Went looking for X1's but they are out of stock on most sites at the moment.

The others need phono plug in's where as these go straight into the optical of the AV lead. Even the x3's seem to have to be plugged into a tv?

X3 arn't surround so wont/cant use the optical TOSlink.

Can you use a VGA cable instead? Or even a butchered composite lead and use the phono connections?

None have to plugged into the TV as such. They just do a pass through so you can have the TV speakers worcking aswellJust thats a straight forward way if you have just HDMI or Advanced SCART any of the other cables has the red and white for a direct hook up to the headphones.

I'm a bit confuzzled as to how this will work with the Dell even with a VGA mate?

Infact I don't think it will because there is no sound for it. Which is why I'm thinking my option is to go X4?

I've been hoping to catch you all week on live to have a chat about it. I have my internet back now so hopefully when i'm off work next week I can catch you on COD :)
