Headset recommendations for the 360

I'm a bit confuzzled as to how this will work with the Dell even with a VGA mate?

Yeah the red and white stereo leads go to the X1 red and white to 3.5mm female green jack. The male part of the phono leads doesnt need to connect to a TV, its just there for stereo pass through so you dont need to mess with wires when you decide to play with headset sound or TV sounds.

The X1's then plug into the green adaptor thats on the VGA cable from the Xbox, into the USB port aswell to power the amp on it, then the shorter lead plugs into the control box/amp about a foot down the lead from the headset and into the controller for the voice part.

The male part of those Y connectors doesnt need to go to anything.

Really really interested in the Astro A40s, however (a question that has probably been clarified earlier in the thread and I have missed it) would I be able to use the headset with only voice through the headset - and still have sound through the TV?

I would like it like that occassionally, as I love the sound through my TV but I like the headsets just for voice chat, and the Xbox official ones are two cruddy and flimsy for me (and remind me too much of being at work).

EDIT

Actually, from looking on the site it appears the amp can dial back and forth to how much voice to game ratio you wish to have, and I imagine these run through an audio splitter system so you would just crank it up 100% voice and play it through the TV! Win!

Thanks, so why would I need to do that with a Vga, can't I just do the same with the component? As the phono leads on my component aren't used anyway.

Yeah either that, just assumed VGA would be the choice for a moniter, didnt realise it had component aswell.

Just that when you said you only had an optical AV port for the sound I wasnt sure what cable you were using.

Yeah I use the optical for connection to logitech Z5500's. I normally run the xbox through that.

Now I'm thinking X1's again for the amount of use they will get, a bit of late night rockband. Do they go very loud mate?

Yep. You can turn the voice up or down as much as you like.

They're pretty heavy headphones, so you might find they block a lot of the TVs sound out though.

Have been doing some reading this morning, it's definately the X1's for me. The X2 and 3's get very bad wireles reviews and the X4's have lots of issue with range and wireless drop outs despite the superb sound. It still has to almost be line of sight with the x4's and there are interference problems with the reciever.

I just can't find anywhere half decent to buy the x1's from.

Ordered the X1's today so will have them tomorrow :)
I made wiggis jealous too so he ordered a pair as well :D

Can one of you whack on rockband or GH3 and see what the sound is like. I'm thinking about any audio lag when your playing and if they go loud enough. :)

I bought the SteelSeries Siberia USB headset.

I wanted something to work with Xbox and PS3. Now, the connections are a little haphazard and all over the place, but its superb, the microphone is super sensitive the headset is open can or whatever its called so you can hear outside stuff through it but the sound is still great (As if you have good speakers).

Comes with a USB soundcard which you can use on the PS3 as the line in for the mic, and the audio out from the PS3 (at the moment until i get that phono to 3.5mm converter) comes from my TV (no hissing or anything like I thought it would).

I've ordered a little attachment they sell so the xbox controller links to the microphone also.

I've looked for the best way to get game sound and voice through a headset for PS3, now I have a solution for both PS3 and XBOX.

I believe the PX1's work similarly from Turtle beach, around the same price, but I went for looks aswell lol.
