In all honesty, I can't believe that anyone would eat cold takeaway curry! YUK! FFS chuck it away and order another. Here was I, thinking what a lovely set of lads you all were? You must have stomachs like waste disposal units!

Food Standards Agency said:
It's true that you could get food poisoning from eating reheated rice. But it's not actually the reheating that's the problem – it's the way the rice has been stored before reheating.

Uncooked rice can contain spores of Bacillus cereus, bacteria that can cause food poisoning. When the rice is cooked, the spores can survive. Then, if the rice is left standing at room temperature, the spores will germinate into bacteria. These bacteria will multiply and may produce toxins (poisons) that cause vomiting or diarrhoea. Reheating the rice won't get rid of these toxins.

So, the longer cooked rice is left at room temperature, the more likely it is that bacteria, or the toxins they produce, could stop the rice being safe to eat.

I remember the whole rice thing from food tech. It's alright if you bung it in the fridge as soon as you're done, I wouldn't do it though, just due to the epic fearmongering my teacher did. "If you reheat rice without cooling it off very quickly you'll get incurable food poisoning and probably die wading in your own diarrhoea!" is basically how it went.

Also, on the 'toilet DDoS' thing, I guess it entirely depends on how you define 'distributed'... I could think of several ways you could do that 'single player.' One involves rather violent gastri- nvm.

I think almost any takeaway is fine the next morning reheated, especially if its been inn the fridge. Sometimes drier kebabs do dry out to much but other than that im sure its fine to reheat once.

A lot of Indian restaraunts pre-cook the rice then make up individual rice portions sitting in little baggies ready to throw into the microwave as and when required. Usually they sit out in the kitchen all night. I've worked in a fair few places when i was going through uni and it's quite a frequent thing.

I think so long as it's not actually sitting out uncovered at room temperature for any great length of time then the chances are you'll be ok. Besides the turn over time for rice in an indian is pretty quick so it's not like they have really old stuff they're serving.

As someone has said above it's those spores that turn into bacteria that's the problem. They say don't leave it out longer than an hour but that's probably more of a guide line than anything, and is probably more aimed at people who leave it uncovered at home and don't stick it in the fridge 'till they go to bed.

It doesn't bother me all that much, I just know I'd rather stick in the fridge than leave it out for ages.

There's nothing wrong with reheating it, just good practise to store it properly.

Just ate the lot, was actually really nice. Rice included, so I hope I don't fall over dead all of a sudden! Gulped a mouthful of water each time, went down easy. (the condition is gerd, one of the most painful experiences I've been through in a while)

You'll die exactly 24 hours after ingestion. Sorry :(

Weird I've left rice out to cool down, but then forgotten about it for hours or even till the next day and I've never had food poisoning from it. Ah well.
