Focus ST

Somewhat OT, but out of interest I just quoted myself up on a 350Z. Bearing in mind my current car is an EP3 Type-R and my renewal quote with Direct Line came out at £426 inc. protected no claims.

The 350Z came out at £420/year!! O_o

Yeah, they are easy to insure. I will be insuring one for my 21st birthday at £1200 with all the mods on it  Watch this space, you might see a new thread from me soon ;)

Everything else of similar performance for me we about £2000+ to insure.

Civic Type-R (new shape- FD2?) not take your fancy?

I know they need to be worked hard to get the best out of them and that isn't everyones cup of tea.

you should be able to find a decent 350z for that kind of money - i'd certainly be tempted, supposed to be very controllable on the edge :)

or even a z4 coupe :)

I would be very tempted to get a cheap run around, and stretch to a Z4M after saving up on top of what you already have.

You can pick up a mint 350z for your budget, well specced out with creature comforts and a reliable V6 growl. As I said before, well worth considering as it's a complete package.

From what you have said about your spending on your others cars, and the work which you have done on that VX, i really do not think you will find an M3's bill's come at all as a shock. People seriously seriously overplay running costs on this forum (i guess due to the typical demographic).

M3 is the best car for the budget, and will be no more expensive to maintain than what you are seasoned to.

I want an M3, just my sensible head tells me there going to break and when they do its going to hurt me .... £12500 isnt the best budget either is it

Buy a faster M111 chassis'd car... you know you want to :D Zige S!

Great cars but i want something with a little more luxury .... + there not in my budget ;)

350Z i dislike :( and the Z4 coupe is a bit on the expensive side as i would want a 330

Ive said it once, I'll say it again....hawkeye STI!

Whats the best Impreza to look at, STI with PPP ???? I know nothing about imprezas :)

I think that's what I'd suggest too.

The DC5 looks amazing, sounds great and it makes sense because i love to give my cars a good thrashing but (and im putting my flame suit on here) I feel like there a bit err slow  There no quicker than a 182 clio are they ? I really need to get my arse out this weekend and test drive some cars :)

Sam

Get out there test driving Sam, I dont think you will like the Focus ST due to the lethargic nature of it compared to your clio/vx etc. Worth having a look at the Megane R26 in this range? Supposed to be much better to drive and we know how you loved your clio.

Dont rush into it!!!!

Drive one Sam. I've driven my mates 172 Cup and it hasn't really done anything for me. However the DC5 I have driven a couple of times really has. The seats, the gearchange, the steering, the grip, the noise, road prescence and around 200bhp/ton iirc isn't exactly slow. And a completely reliable car you can use every day and not worry about.

£12500 will buy you the mintest pre-facelift you can find with change left over for some mods.

If I wasn't saving for a house there would be one sat on my drive without a doubt.
