Fallout3 DLC - Its Here!!

I don't get what all you guys are on about, just because your on PC doesn't exclude you from paying or give you the right to free DLC, the simple fact is either like it or lump it but if you plan on playing it get the £££'s out.

and people wonder why there games get pirated.....

lock at valve, stardock etc people respect them so are less likely to pirate there games because you know afterwords you will get good support and game updates for free.

then you look at companies like EA who want to rape your wallet every few months as they pop out games and never fix bugs or compatibility issues.

go look at the cnc3 tiberium wars forums lol theres a massive thread a few hundred pages long of people who couldnt play the game for more than a few minutes without the game crashing and EA never fixed it.

i hate all this micro transaction crap that people are coming up with these days.

i remember when you bought a game and it didnt need any patchs and all the contend you would expect and more was included in the first place.

i expect 90% of the people who disagree with DLC are old school and we are used to having it included or having it for free

can you just buy 800 ms points? i dont have a xbox 360 so wont use the other 1300....

edit: sigh only can buy 1000 ms points

edit 2: bigger sigh only credit cards and no solo card option ms fails again at trying gfw

I've read that the content you equip yourself with in the expansion (ie the new weapons and armour) can be taken back into your existing fallout 3 game. But you cannot take anything from your existing game into the new expansion.

No I am not, no need to be condescending because you have no idea what you're talking about

Really, lets try another example.

World of Warcraft = Game
Black Wing Lair = DLC via Patch
AQ = DLC via Patch
Naxx = DLC via patch
Burning crusade = Expansion
Black Temple = DLC via Patch
Sunwell = DLC via patch
Wrath of the Lich King = Expansion

Notice anything there?

The expansions add vastly more content then the DLC.

This DLC adds a virtual game in a vault where you cant remove the weapons or anything you gain from it.

Sure as hell sound nothing like an expansion to me.

It's not surprising these aren't free since the Oblivion ones weren't. They're generally not worth paying for in my opinion.

Yes, you talking more and more rubbish

The expansions add vastly more content then the DLC.

They also cost more, notice a pattern?

Wrong, do your research

Sure as hell sound nothing like an expansion to me.

Correct, it's DLC. A DIGITAL expansion. Not sure how many times you need this explained to you. Especially as you quoted wikipedia pages which only proved you were wrong

Ok.

They also cost more, notice a pattern?

So now your admitting that this is just content not an actual expansion!?

Expansions cost more because they add more, DLC should be free because they add very little.

I recently bought 2 games from steam for £6, and your paying £6 for 4 hours of gameplay???

You can get a mod for Fallout 3 with more content then that and its free.

Correct, it's DLC. A DIGITAL expansion. Not sure how many times you need this explained to you. Especially as you quoted wikipedia pages which only proved you were wrong

Not sure how many times i need to try and explain the difference, if you don't understand this is NOT an expansion and its not worth £6, then your the type of suckers the industry prays upon.

Can't see any info about you being able to take anything from the simulation into the actual game world. The three virtual 'missions' you do aparently unlock some safes/lockers with weapons ammo that you have seen before over the last 40hrs of original game-play.

Seems like it would have been a fun little outing with the original game but paying for what seems like a game within a game seems...to say the least......crazy ?

By the definition you quoted

An expansion pack, expansion set, or supplement is an addition to an existing role-playing game, tabletop game or video game. These add-ons usually add new game areas, weapons, objects, and/or an extended storyline to a complete and already released game

New Game Areas - Check
New Weapons - Check
New Objects - Check
and/or Extended Storyline - Check

What were the games you bought by the way Teki187?

I think you can receive new items in the full game based on what happens in the simulator but someone else will have to confirm it.

Any reports what the new content is actually like yet or are the people who actually have it too engrossed to spend time here?

More importantly, was it worth all that money? :)

DLC is simply a term for content that is downloadable, it's nothing to do with being a digital expansion. :p

Were the Call of Duty 4 maps an expansion? Gears of War ones? Halo 3 ones? I think not.

They were extra content, GTA IV: Lost and Damned I'd call an expansion though, this Fallout 3 content however seems like a mini quest line more than anything.

World of Warcraft content patches add hours and hours and hours to the game for free too, but to be fair they get money via £ a month so it's not quite comparable.

Stop crying you lot ffs. It's more content which has taken more man hours to produce. It was never going to be free.

Oh really, and didn't the guy above me just explain the only thing you get from doing these missions is ammo and guns that you can get via the normal game anyway?

Also isnt these "new" objects, weapons and areas actually a virtual world within a virtual world, within a vault?

So please tell me again, were is the new content?

Operation: Anchorage, a simulation of the liberation of the Alaskan city from Chinese communists, is the first of the downloadable episodes. Exclusive to Xbox 360 and PC,

Thank you and good night: http://uk.xboxlive.ign.com/articles/933/933617p1.html

What were the games you bought by the way Teki187?

DarkStar 1 (75 on meta critic) and Bioshock (96 on meta critic)

Can you not see the flaw in this statement? By its very definition an expansion expands on the original release in some way.

New content also EXPANDS on the original game by being NEW stuff that wasn't in the ORIGINAL game.

So has a lot of other PC content that was free?

So what money was perhaps made elsewhere to cover it so they didn't feel the need to, that argument doesn't wash. If a developer wants to charge for something they've had to dedicate more time to then so bloody well be it. End of thread. The only thing im remotely annoyed about is they're using that god awful piece of ***** GFWL. I want to buy it online with a normal card and not using Billy boys points.

EDIT : I daren't go into that Fallout forum, the amount of kids in there crying because mommy won't let them use the card will be ridiculous.

Did it expand the game in some way.....??

Then that would make it some type of expansion no matter how small or large
