Killzone 2 - Enter The Killzone

I mean the reviews mean nothing in the sense of Halo 3 and GTA 4 and MGS4

While i would typically agree with you that reviews mean very little these days i still have high hopes. This is because Killzone 2 has had more public exposure than all three of those games. MGS4 and GTA4 were never seen by any consumers until release day, Halo 3 was restricted to a closed beta, Killzone 2 has had public playtests of the single player and a long running closed multiplayer beta. Everyone i have spoken to who has played either of those has had nothing but praise for it.

The single player is most likely going to be fantastic, i do have my worries about the server issues you speak of too however.

Yeah well some of us have already played the game. I would have thought you would be a bit more excited about this. I've been bigging up Killzone 2 for weeks now.

I am saying the live servers will be crap and let the game down, initially.

I am unsure how you playing a Beta (which others have played) or a demo at a games expo (which others have played) will have any bearing on the status of the live servers.

I have played the game too and am excited, this does not devalue my points on live server performance upon game release.

I didn't mean literally the reviews are useless. Possibly I meant that people are bigging up this game based on beta reviews etc. A game that is heavily Multiplayer based will live and die on server performance (initially) and a few people playing a Beta does not change that. Possibly GOW2 is a good example? Really great game, based on MP performance in 1st few months though, should have got lower scores imo.

I was talking about your sticking point with reviews. As for live server performance, who knows, but the beta was hitch-free, which is more than can be said for Warhawk, Halo 3, Gran Turismo 5p, MGO, Call of Duty 4 and all the other betas I've (and I'm sure you have too) ever participated in. If they are going to have problems is that going to detract from how good the game really is? Only in the short term to be honest, it still doesn't make it any less of a significant and fantastic PS3 game. Your apprehension about the game's quality amongst all the high-scoring reviews is unfounded.

I should have phrased it better tbh (see above post). The short term is important for a new multiplayer game imo. I think server problems do detract from a game (I barely play GOW2 online for instance) but appreciate it is different for others. In essence this is a multiplayer game to me. The SP will be short and have a crap storyline, but amazing graphics.

You never know, you might be shocked when it releases and there aren't any problems because they've anticipated demand correctly and have enough infrastructure in place to deal with it.

In an ideal world... :p

I am much happier with my miserable mindset. :D (roflpops?) As a bonus the sanctimonious people in this thread may be quieter after launch, if I am right :)

So, what are the best pre-order goodies available?
I think it is just a metal tin case for the UK (unless other retailers, come up with something before thE game is released?)

Cant recall me having a problem with Resistance 2 (or 1) for that matter when they first came out. Guess we'll all find out in a month or so time, doubt ill be playing the MP straight away like to get the SP done first.

We should place bets ;)

I bet 40% of the people on the list in this thread will not have this game on release day.

I bet within 14 days 50% of the people in this thread will find something negative to say about the game, that is probably mentioned already in reviews, but got ignored due to the hype.

I bet that 75% of people that hated me before this thread will hate me more after reading it.

I bet that within 7 days I have a new signature to replace the ageing Heroes one.

I can 100% say I will love this game. Nothing could make me hate a game that is continuing from my favourite game on the PS2.

Although....I was dissapointed by LittleBigPlanet despite the anticipation. :(
