McDonald's I'm lovin it .. ??

As I was saying Trans-Fat. It can be used for a month rather than a few days with normal olive oil.

Any store manager caught using their oil for that long would get sacked or the franchise revoked in the UK. Maximum of a week, less in a busy store.

What store is that? McDonalds? Do you know for a fact what type of oil the store you are refering to uses?

I read that information on the length of oil life from here or a link on trans-fats directly (rather than the subset name used to disguise trans-fat presents on some labels):

They use a blend of vegetable and rapeseed oil in the UK (it's something different in the US, or at least it used to be), but the real reason I posted was the idea that it would be acceptable for a McDonalds store to not change it's oil for a month, it's not. Daily filtering, weekly change is SOP, rising to twice daily and bi-weekly in the really busy stores/periods.

Yeah but doesn't that fit what I was saying? If you use natural oil in McDonalds then you would change it every few days, whereas if it was trans-fat oil (which is pre-heated was designed to make candles originally) then it would be much longer up to a month.

However even if they use natural oil, I read that any oil heated to extreme will basically be bad too.

Whenever I go to McDonalds I only order a Big Mac and Double CheeseBurger, no fries so it shouldn't effect me. Although I do get a cod n chips Fridays.

Thats what got me a bit confused, in that even if they use natural oil, then does it turn bad when its used as intended and heated up to cook the food?

Why are you even worrying about it?

Trans-fats are banned in sweden and at the same time this got banned heart disease dropped like 40%. You will probably die of heart disease before I will but I just don't see a reason to eat unhealthy stuff knowingly. Plus its got to help with lifting heavy weights.

That sounds like a distinct case of correlation not equaling causation. Heart disease is a long term issue, so if the ban and the drop coincided, the drop had nothing to do with the ban....

burnt food can cause cancer :S?
Yup, there was a massive scare when I was a kid about eating burnt toast. Bit pathetic if you ask me when a few years earlier they were banging on about how charcoal was so good for various stomach complaints like wind.

Thats the 2nd time you have just poo-poo over something I have just garnered from reading about trans-fats. I'm not a scientist but I would be more inclined to believe there is some truth to the matter when a country has banned trans-fats rather than some rander poster keep disagreeing but offering no basis for it:

"Studies have shown that the intake of trans-fats substantially increases the risk of coronary heart disease."

"The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Governor Schwarzenegger signs law banning trans fats in restaurants:

California became the first state to require restaurants to cook without artery-clogging trans fats, such as those in many oils and margarines, under restrictions signed into law Friday by the health-conscious governor.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, a physical-fitness advocate and crusader against obesity, sided with legislators who said the measure would help get the fat out of Californians who are too dependent on fast food.

Trans fats can preserve flavor and add to the shelf life of foods but have been linked to heart disease, stroke and diabetes.

The new law, AB 97 by Assemblyman Tony Mendoza (D-Artesia), requires restaurants to use oils, margarines and shortening with less than half a gram of trans fat per serving by Jan. 1, 2010, and applies the standard to deep-fried bakery goods by Jan. 1, 2011."
