Uk prisons needs reform

I know its a joke, im a prison officer they get everything, the management dont want to upset the little darlings or even say no.

The problem is they will keep up this level of appeasement with prisoners because although they are quite happy to spend £2k on LCD TVs and PS2s they wont spend a penny on extra staffing. So they keep the cons happy so they dont kick off so they cut staffing numbers its a disgrace, and dont get me started on the way they treat staff.

They want to being in this new staff manual which among other things states that staff can have their shifts extended with no notice to ensure minimum staffing levels are kept up, this basically means I cant go home to my family cos they wany to unlock the prisoners to let them have their association time.

Simple solution to stop them kicking off, get more to a cell and make sure they are in their cells for 23 hours a day. Good behavior means you do hard work, maybe get to see some sun....

My biggest gripe is the differences between male and female prisoners.

Male prisoners get internal cavity searches when they arrive, but female inmates don't!

AS mentioned though, MALE peado's and rapists are in their own seperate wing, but the female equivilent are not! :confused:

And for some reason, heroin addicts get given methodone, make it cheaper, lock them in a cell for 4 weeks until they are clean. Job done.

Well look at the Shannon Matthews case, he getts the **** kicked out of him reguarly, she's made frieds with a tranny.

Women don't seem to beat the ever loving **** out of peado's as much.
although there are still protection wings.

Shouldn't you be glad they don;t get as much protection for your harsh prison ideals?

Because cruel and unusual punishment + the risk of death is kind of illegal in the civilized world.

Prisons are run as cheaply as possible and the last thing they want is for prisoners to riot so they give them luxuries to keep them quiet. Also, human rights legislation means that they really can't be treated that poorly otherwise expect lots of expensive european court cases.

There is not the stomach in this country to properly deal justice.

Sure as long as you feel doing it cheaply means that for society to get revenge it is worth occassionally killing an innocent man. Personally I don't think it is.

They need to get rid of the concept of time off for good behaviour, instead they should add time on for failing to behave.

As someone has already said it's all about keeping costs down. And really thugs are very hard to control without lots of man power.
