Any lovin' for PC SFIV?

If it's a Games for Windows game then it will allow you to use the XBox 360 controller which should be perfect for this kind of game. I bought the official USB wireless receiver thingy but have yet to use it properly with my controller. Might look at this game for some chill out enjoyment if it comes out ok.

Nooo, noooo what a horrible thing to say !

I get blisters using the 360 pad playing SF2HDTR (HD Remix in laymens :D), It's in dire need of a joystick or at the very least a decent d-pad.

The cheapest and quite decent Arcade stick which you can get from certain import sites is this one by Mayflash. I have one myself and though it is quite clicky, it works perfectly well for emulators on the PC and fighting games for my PS2.

If done right they can mix. At least when it comes to online play it should be a hell of a lot easier.

Besides, it will be hilarious to poke fun at a n00b playing a fighting game with the keyboard and they will be complaining and wondering why they cannot do any special moves. Well DUUH lol :D.

well theres hardly any first of all

console ports tend to be crap on the pc

the only good beat em up for the pc was super street fighter 2 turbo, which was back in the dos days and i had the 4 button gravis gamepad pro back then :p

too many different hardware variations so the developers have to accomodate for that for pc games

it might be just me, but i reckon pcs are great for fps games but arcade games like fighting / racing ones belong on the consoles.

Erm, It's the guys with keyboards like mine who are going to own everyone, we have 18 macro keys on our kb :p.

Not always, a fighting game is a fighting game, in this case a 2d one with no massive world or massive draw distances, hardly hard on peoples hardware, even the laziest port is going to run on enthusiast pc's.

A ps2 imitation controller ( basically a dualshock 2 controller with a different brand) is usually available for 15€ at any pc fair or on the Internet.

Too many hardware variations? just make it work on x86 and directx, that's all what's needed, the display drivers etc will do the rest.

I disagree, pc is far superior in any genre, provided someone wants to spend money on it, eg. get proper hardware & perhiperals for it and the makers aren't lazy ****s.

Because that proves skill. :D

No but it's fun to win once in a while if you're a button basher like me, games like streetfighter will be very unforgiving for me. I have this though:

With a proper D-pad, not a ''1 piece'' one like on the 360 controller.

name me one decent fighting game on the pc ;)

i already have a logitech rumble pad, tried playing the mugen / street fighter games which is the only decent fighting game i can think of at the moment, put it this way the graphics were abysmal, gameplay was not far behind.

it doesn't always work like that, the proof is the many console ports, i was looking forward to the burnout paradise but it runs like a dog and just doesnt feel right (i have a decent high spec pc), lol gta4, test drive was one of the good ports but that has / had plenty of bugs

not any genre, beat em ups NO CHANCE! even racing games, i prefer to play them on the consoles bar test drive

pc is great for fps games, tried playing unreal tourney with a joypad on the console? its a joke lol

There aren't any because none of the well known titles like ninja gaiden, street fighter, soul calibur, dbz games, tekken games, etc haven't even been ported to pc/

What is your point, it's hardly the fault of pc hardware that there are no fighting games coming over to pc.

Burnout paradise runs like a dog? It runs @ solid 60 fps with 8x CSAA and 1920x1080 here, and I haven't seen a single person except you complain about the performance yet, it's solid at 60 fps . Only the graphics are a bit poor for pc standards, because they haven't really been improved ( aside from massive AA, texture filtering, and superior resolution) from the original console design for the x1800xt and 7900gt... See GRID which runs at 40-55 fps for me (also on 1080p and 8xcsaa) but looks much better.
GTA IV runs at a higher framerate on my pc than the joke on the consoles, at a higher res, and at higher settings: just have to have a cpu even or better than the one on consoles and not a dualcore with less cores than the game has been made for. I don't see your example. A good pc will run GTA IV better and prettier than it ever has on console.
TDU is no better on consoles.

Why do you prefer them on the consoles? Performance: Get a proper pc. Controls: Get a wireless 360 pad for pc or a wheel or whatever you prefer. TV? Buy a hdmi cable and plug in your favorite tv to your pc and pretend your pc is a console while playing on your wireless pad on your tv.

Pc is great for anything as you can throw money at any problem you have, with consoles you're stuck with poor controls, poor performance ( gta iv 33 avg fps lol) and the sameish gfx for years without being able to do anything about it.

Nice to see that this thread has turned into a Console vs PC debate.... NOT!!

The PC does have the potential to produce "any" genre of videogame possible, only problem is down to the general market/customer base and the games developer themselves.

And no consoles do not have poor controls, there are many other new and fun peripherals for different game types.

Seriously people need to broader their horizons instead of sticking to one area or having the big dick syndrome or I am richer than you and can afford anything attitude!

As for a decent fighting game with a decent enough PC port,

Guilty Gear XX #Reload - The Midnight Carnival or Guilty Gear Isuka.

Whichever you may prefer.

my point is there isnt any decent fighting games on the pc, period!

Because fighting games are non existent on pcs, and even if they do make it they are rubbish, well have to see about SF IV

im sorry that's total rubbish, can your money create decent fighting games for the pc? exactly

out of interest do you own / use any consoles, because from what i can read here and from other posts you seem like a hardcore pc fanatic nutcase

Sorry but that is not a "proper" dpad. A proper dpad is found on something like the snes joypad.

I own a gameboy color :D.
I wanted to buy a ps3 but I chose a 24'' monitor instead.
Don't want a 360 as the controller is rubbish ( too big for my hands) and the exclusives aren't that interesting, and I can't do much on a 360 except gaming, a ps3 will at least also play blu ray movies & browse the Internet.
Still want a ps3, but have to wait till my next salary, but only for some exclusives like Killzone 2, Soul Calibur 4, Gran Turismo 4 ( I'm buying a 60gb version), God of War, etc... Not because I actually want a ps3 :p. I just want those games...

and even if they do make it they are rubbish,

How so, if they release the exact same game on pc as on console, surely it's the same game ?

well then come back to me when you tried a console ;) you'll see what you've been missing

lol OK played resident evil 4 for the PC? its meant to be played on the wii and thats it! ok maybe the gamecube and ps2, defiantly not the PC (even with the patches)

edit i don't think we should kill this thread anymore, its a PC SF4 IV thread, ..I'll let you say your last words of wisdom ;)

I know what I'm missing, good games, that's all, I go to my mates every week and sit there for hours playing on the ps3/ doing whatever on ps3, as he doesn't have a pc in his room. I personally don't understand how he can not mind having no pc and only a ps3 in his room, but I'm not him... But I've played a lot of hours on the ps3 by now.

Nope I haven't, I've played the newest one demo (RE5?) on the ps3 yesterday though and found it terrible, the ai was bad and the game felt too slow. ( eg. takes more than half a second to turn around .) I know why pc gamers don't want to touch that game with a barge pole.
Anyways, you migth be right, before I actually own a console I will still always remain biased, but that's because I spend pretty much all my time @ home by my pc...

Ok, I'll stop, I'm looking forward to trying this and hope it's out asap. But if it's a hit on console I see no reason why it should be worse on pc provided it's not the laziest port on the planet.

Yep, pretty much the best pad for 2D games.

Quite hard to get brand new ones these days unless your willing to pay a premium.
