HTC HD - you got one? what you think??

out of curiousity, how is the web browsing on the HTC ? Is it nice and fluid without really any quarms?

Pretty much, there are occasional problems of flicking about a bit when trying to scroll down a page that isn't fully loaded and clicking on small links (like forum topics) when zoomed fully out can sometimes be a hassle (but then it is pretty much the only phone out at the moment that can render a full width webpage that is still readable when fully zomed out, the only other one I can think of is the X1).

I went to orange yesterday in Leeds... told them i wanted the HTC HD with internet access..

£37.50p a month for phone with semi good package, something like 600 mins, 400 txts a month and another £5 a month for internet access package...

£42.50p a month, tried to haggle with them, said i had £30 a month to spend, readynow, will sign right a way, but they were not interested, didnt even give me any other offers, nor another phone package just looked at me and said, over and over, its £42.50p a month...

I walked out.

Will wait a little longer i guess.

Mate have you seen the offer orange are doing on their website at the minute.

Its 24 month contract, 600 mins, unlimited texts, free HTC HD for £29 and a few pennies a month.

Add in 5 quid extra if you really want data and for 34 quid i think it a good deal.

sounds good to me. Cheers. Also can you put firefox on it? And im curious, can you put itunes on your phone seens as its windows surely it can run any program that can run on windows right?

No, it's a totally different system, although you may be able to find a mobile version of firefox iTunes is very unlikely though.

damn, all my music is on itunes im not sure ill be able to play it all ion the phone then.

Just drag and drop the music from your music folder to the phone and use the in built music player (or 3rd party ones)?

Format wise the HD plays almost everything, and any it doesn't play you should be able to download the codec for.

Ahh pocket itunes, that would do.

Well i know a lot of my music doesn't work on mp3s other then ipods or when i try play it through media player on my xbox due to being in itunes own format. But yaeh i gues there will be a codec about that can do it. Its just a pain, plus i really like the itunes player.

There is an unwriten rule in most call centers as im sure there is people on here that work in the them. When you get customers been greeddy and rude or shouting and using the let me speak to your manger crap you will get 0% nothing. If people in genral try keeping their toys in their pram when your told no and not turning into a knob you be very supprised what people give away for free....after all its not their money:D
All pretty obvious stuff, may I ask why that's in reply to my post?

Mine should be here tomorrow. :)

Probably won't get to play with it until Saturday by the time I get home from work and charge it up etc but what do I need to know, apps to download etc.

Going to have a read through the thread when I get chance but what's hot these days? On Orange btw if that makes a difference as I know they sometimes brand the s/w.

Also, what should I expect in the box? Or do I need to look at buying a mem card, screen protector, case? any recommendations?

Thanks.

:)

Despite mine coming from Phones4U my Orange branded HTC HD came with an 8GB memory card. It comes with a soft fabric pouch case though I'm looking to get an official hard case when they become available: http://www.htcaccessorystore.com/uk/p_htc_item.aspx?i=176954

So far I've just upgraded the phone to .net 3.5, installed 3 of the official HTC hot fixes (the firmware is new enough to not need one), and added a few apps including google maps. Some other essentials config apps to look out for are Advance config, HDTweak, Total Commander, Gyrator 2 and Storage Tools.

I wasn't sure about S2U2 when I tried it though I'm going to stick it on again and have a play and I'm also looking at themes as I type.

I'm still learning/playing myself but hope this helps.

nice one, thanks v.much. should get me going. :)

I'm upgrading from a SPV M3100, so there's a couple of things from that I know I'm going to want but nice to see what is out and about these days for the newer phones.

I asumed by the :

"customer service reps are uncompromising and unpolite ****s.
Plus you will never convince anyone at Orange to let you replace the unlimited texts with unlimited web"

that your were lets say not in the best mood when you asked for this is what i meant :p

Yeah I found that out myself, but I wasn't referring to that, more like how their phone manners were impolite and awkward, well at least that was my experience, spoke to 3 different agents

Nah I've just generally found that they don't care much for their customers so I won't care for them either :p.

Both my father and brother are on £40+ orange monthly contracts- all in this one household -and Orange wouldn't show any signs of budging when it came to trying to negotiate a deal for a third monthly contract in the same household. Oh yeah and orange branded phones look ugly. ;)

Me and my Father have been with orange for sometime now, say what well over 10 years, and i'd say you just gotta be firm with them, ive had alsorts of little things where they have been great such as upgrading me to 500mb internet for same as 250mb, such as giving me a free 300 minutes on top of my 700 for nothing.... free upgrade phones etc.

I've had the Touch HD for 4 months now.

Just finished on the phone with Orange customer services, told them I was unhappy with the poor package I had with them, 600 minutes, unlimited texts and 30mb data bundle; seemed to get an Indian call centre and she was happy to put me on 1000 minutes for calls, 1000 texts, 500mb data, additional to that she knocked £5 off the package plus an additional 15% discount.

Nice result I thought.
