Went to see this opening night.
Bloody Brilliant, enjoyed every second of it.
Going to see it again soon![]()
I've heard that nerds will go crazy if they screw this film up...I've never read the books/comics tho, is it worth reading them before watching the film?
Thanks for all the realistic/mature comments back a mine - with OcUK I'm always half expecting a ton of "LOLZ youre just wrong it was AMAZING, douche" responses.
I forgot in my original post, but the other thing that was really odd was Dr. Manhattan. I mentioned that if he can change matter, why does he still feel the need to make himself 10x taller and break through a glass roof with his fist, but there's quite a lot more:
- If he sees time as more 'circular' (past, present and future) altogether, then how could he possibly leave a girl because of her age? That's an a-hole thing to do anyway, let alone if you always see her as younger/current/older at the same time anyway.
- Why didn't he just explode the clever guy like everyone else - or teleport him to the moon.
- If he has the power of foresight (and basic intelligence - I recognised the machine) why does he blindly step into the "trap" created for him? Yes he could just put himself back together, but it was still an 'inconvenience'.
- "The countdown has started [on the 'nuke']" - as if this would stop someone who can change matter at will. Just change the countdown computers into H2O.
- The Comedian has a point - why didn't he turn the bullet into snow (or whatever he says)?
There's loads more, these are just a couple off the top of my head.
This I couldn't say other than speculate and say he double bluffed him letting him do it as he knew he could put himself back together, letting Viedt think he had done it.
If I recall the novel correctly (and it's been, Jesus, 12 years now), Manhattan's ability to observe all points in time was impaired by tachyon interference Veidt had, um, made
So his "vision" was clouded as regards Veidt's grand plan, and the plan to lure him into the particle whatsit.
