Hahaha omg

Or they would be more likely to carry a weapon while breaking into your home..Just in case you have a knife...

If they believe you are armed, they will arm themselves..

Surely most burglars have got some form of weapon with them anyway, whatever they used to break in crowbar/screwdriver is as good as any weapon you would have in the home anyway.

Unless of course you have guns in your house, in which case they are out matched.

If someone broke into my house at night first thing i think of is protecting me and my family and getting a weapon of some sort.
I would warn him but if he stayed then god help him because i wouldn't hold back until he is down.
I feel sorry for his family but not him.

Our house was burgled 3 times when I was younger, and its a horrible feeling knowing some ***** have been through your stuff. But at the same time without knowing people properly I couldnt wish death on them.

People get in situations where burglary, thieft and general crime somehow seem their only option. Im not saying this is the case of this lad. Because I dont know him. But its still a shame in my eyes that his life took a path that ended like this.

Our house has been broken into 3 times too. One time, in the morning, the burk broke in while I was asleep and legged it when he noticed me. That really messed me up mentally as I could no longer sleep in the morning after my mum left for work. I've only recently overcome this (5 years now).

Once your house is burgled you never feel the same about it. Just imagine if your car gets stolen and you get it back, would you ever have the same affection towards it? Nope

They all come in with one goal and they couldn't give a **** about the victims.

I find it very hard to find any sympathy for these people.

So its okay to end someone's life over a bunch of insured stuff?

Every case like this should be dealt with within context anyway and any generalisations made are completely stupid.

In some cases, harming the burgler could be justified if you are threatened or if they keep doing it and are never caught or whatever.

But to make the statement that killing someone over your new HDTV is worthwhile is a ridiculous thing to say.

Have you been burgled? It makes you feel like **** when you see your house upside down. Trust me you won't be saying "oh don't worry we've got it all insured!" :p

What about the ones we see on crimewatch? Murdering people, injuring people, blind folding/tieing people up. This stuff leaves people traumatised severely. They don't have a care in the world. So why should people stop giving them a taste of their own medicine?

id rather take on a skinny scrote with a crowbar than one with a blade :o but tools like that are less likely to give him a sense of confidence and thats important in whether or not he will attack..

Has anyone in here actually experienced this?

Ive been in one situation where i confronted a burglar in my home. It was the middle of the day though. I managed to hold back from a murderous rage :o Would it really be that different if it were night? I spose its kinda scary in the dark.

if someone enters your home you defend it (just the same as if you were attacked on the street), like with like.

that is my opinion on the matter, if it was something other than plain and simple burglary then I have some sympathy, if not? i don't

Were you the only one home? No kids or partner in who would need protecting

I think when people come to steal your VCR they've come to steal your VCR not hunt down, find and kill your child for the additional lulz.

if they've come to steal my VCR my first impression was that they'd got the wrong decade, my second would be to forcibly remove them from the property by what ever means is necessary, that or hide in my closet and wet myself (most likely course of action)

At the point of finding someone in your house, how do you know what they are there for ?

I was the only one home..It was actually a rented room...I went to the bog for 10 mins, came back and the dude was in my room going through all my stuff. He was petrified when he saw me come through the door..I wanted to smash his face in but didnt :o

if i did have kids/SO in the house, i would be even less likely to attack the guy...getting into a scuffle which could easily end up with me dead rather than him would not be a good way of protecting my family..

If i found a burglar in my house and i had kids upstairs, i would back away from him..Tell him to scarper and try to put him at ease...If hes cornered he is gonna attack..

Avoiding conflict is the best way of protecting your family in that situation.

I suppose if they are wearing a black and white striped top and a face mask I would go with the burglar option.

I'll expand on my previous post about my encounter. I was a sleep at the time it all started - 11am. I heard a knock on the door which I thought would be from the post man, so I ignored it. Then I decided I should double check through the window, but I didn't see anyone let alone a postman!

So I started trodding back to my bedroom then I heard a loud bang. I knew something wasn't right as it was too loud for comfort. Out of curiosity, I looked over the banister and saw a kid, roughly 16-17 sneaking out of the kitchen with our 'family' hammer in hand :p He looked up and stared at me for what seemed like ages at the time. In shock, I didn't know what to do so I gave him a mouthful of random stuff. The **** didn't move! I guess he was shocked that somebody was in the house, and caught him at it! He legged it out of the back door after though :D

PS. The **** got away with our hammer though :(
