Bikers....

I've been held up at the lights by a biker before, was nothing to do with speed or power - he just didnt pay attention to the lights.. Instead of beeping at him, it was a wide enough road so I just sailed past him

try doing that with three wasp riders to your left as well, traffic jams spawn gaggles of riders who distribute themselves evenly across all lanes of traffic, even if you get a few decent riders you will always have three of four momo/homo helmet wearing gimps.

Thank god for living in a relatively quiet city :)

yeah i must admit i know i wouldnt have any of these issues in my home town in cornwall :p

I think in these parts we have the opposite problems. Its the power rangers who seem to cause more of a problem, presumably because they just come out in the summer months, around the Torquay/Paignton bypass can be a nightmare on summer evenings

a proper biker in a power ranger suit always kicks his feet or waves

Unfortunately with the way the average car driver's intelligence seems to be headed I do not do this unless I see someone making a conscious effort to let me through (e.g. they pull to the side of their lane) because I'd much rather have my controls at the ready and doubt anyone would notice me wiggling my left foot anyway :p

I also detest bikers who filter and sit at an angle in front of me at traffic lights like its their god given right to assume pole position and hold me up

As far as I am aware this is illegal and you can get 3 points for doing so (or so my motorbike instructor told me), a motorbike rider is not allowed to filter past any point of the car that is at the front of the queue at traffic lights / pedestrian crossings, also they are not allowed to pass that car until they are clear of the traffic light / pedestrian crossing markings on the other side of the junction / crossing.

oh i make exactly that effort, and always appreciate the acknowledgement in return :)

I don't doubt it, especially down here in the South West - we seem to have a fair amount of people willing to move over.

(It's a shame they're almost always followed by someone who feels like changing lanes without looking :p)

You are not allowed to overtake the car nearest to a pedestrian crossing if they have stopped to let someone cross. You are, however, allowed to if they have only stopped because of congestion (in which case you should be extremely cautious anyway as many pedestrians will dart across without looking for bikes). There are also no rules with regards to filtering to the front of the queue at traffic lights.

i apologise if i offended anyone.

i am a biker and tarmac burger was used as a hint at how awful a bike crash is. The comedy derives from the absurdity of a human being absolutely minced and reduced to somethng akin to processed foodstuff; the sad truth is that it actually happens.

as a biker, i know this and the guilt i feel is immense; how would my family feel if that happened to me. It means i do my best to ride safely and not endanger others.

i imagine a lot of bikers feel the same; it is what makes bikers very active at good roadcraft, not the dangerous speed buffoons most drivers perceive them to be.
