Do we all agree that Babylon 5 beats Star Trek?

B5 was good if you stayed with it... the first series was hard to watch but as the later series came and the budget/acting improved it got a lot better.

As has been said, B5 was an epic story spanning all 5 series, while start trek was for the most part 1 offs with the odd bit of story. This changed with DS9 and Voyager and Enterprise of course. If B5 was redone now with the same budget that star trek commands then it would be utterly fantastic.

Id say they both have their place. Unless you have watched the entire 5 series of B5 then tbh you have no place to pass comment. Its a progressive storyline and all the better for it.

And whats with everyone slagging stargate off? am i the only one who liked it :p
 
I think B5 beats all, the over arching story lines wins it.
I managed to pick up series 2 and 3 for a total of £20 recently and watched them straight through, I was hooked again. I need to try and get 4 cheap.


Like someone said, ST is a bit too utopian and goody goody. B5 was more 'real' in that respect. Also the races looked more 'alien' rather than just having pointy ears or a lumpy nose. Although saying that the Centauri had implied anatomical differences but look mostly the same.

Next Gen is my fav ST series, I really didn't like DS9 I found the characters annoying and wooden, Sisko annoyed me.

Yes, Babylon 5 is, for the most part, superior to Star Trek.

Deep space 9 was great, when it was good, and there were parts of B5 that weren't so good (namely the first series), but overall B5 was a much more in depth and story-driven show. Star Trek was usually individually packaged stories that play out entirely in 45 mins.

Battlestar galactica beats the pants off both of them though.
