Octavia VRs

I got me a different air filter too. Maybe I've just got used to it. Actually I should check it's still there after a service or two... oh.

:D I'm going to make up a laminated sticker to put on the airbox when my one goes in along the lines of "keep your grubby mits off moi filter... grrr"

As a side note just got off the phone to my insurer- 50% loading for a remap :( Whilst the loading is massive I still can't get it any cheaper through a mod friendly insurer. Damn it now I'm going to have to learn how to drive the thing properly rather than just throwing more power at it :p

Tried Sky insurance / HIC or Adrian Flux?

Adrian Flux came back at £639 for me with everything declared (remap, air filter, forge DV etc..). I'm 24 with 1 years no claims... Sky matched this and because I was with them last year I just carried it on with them.

With a map I can get a quote of £458*... but without its a much more appealing £308 :D

*Plus my excess doubles :(

I've not looked at that yet. I'm worried either way, too cheap and I'd have to do it, too expensive and I'd be annoyed at not wanting to spend so much. You can't please me, Lordrobs (so don't even try ok)!

:D You sound as bad as me. I bend Cybershots ear about this weekly and he'll tell you that its something I've been undecided on since getting the car :p

I guess at the end of the day its only £12 a month extra but the excess would cheese me off if I have a fault prang in it- £100 voluntary + £150 HIGH PERFORMANCE!!1 + £250 OMFG MODIFIED!!1 = £500 total :(

With more fun comes greater expense.... :D
This is why I'll never have the trial map put on (well that and the fact that it doesn't actually go back to standard  ) Once I get a taste of it I'll be throwing £20 notes at them whilst screaming "make it happen, make it happen!" :o

It's quite a lot more refined I hear.

The term that gets thrown about is "less raw" whatever that means

They are nicer inside IMO and feel much more modern. Not as keen on the external looks though. TBH if prices go like the mk1's in a few years I'll consider a nice spec one.

Less raw. I had a colleague who would refer to various Hondas as "raw". The CRX was "raw". I think of it has the opposite to refined..

I guess I question it because I don't see the mk1 as being raw in the slightest :p

I forget what engine is in the MkII, but my manager says his woman's new 1.8T A3 is much less fun than the earlier 1.8T to drive. He was on about it not seeming to feel as urgent on boost etc.

I've yet to try one of the new/next gen engines. Isn't the MkII 200bhp?

As robs says, I wouldn't say the MkI is raw, but less refined I am sure. I quite like the less refinement at times though.

Post. Sense. Made.

The MKII has the 2.0 TFSI which gives around 200bhp.
Stage 1 remap, something Bluefin or similar will take it to around 235 - 240bhp.
