Pirates' Shock As They Pick On The Wrong Ship

A group of pirates got a nasty surprise when they attacked a merchant ship - that turned out to be a German naval vessel.
The pirates fired at the FGS Spessart in the Gulf of Aden, under the impression they were striking a commercial carrier but were met with return fire from German sailors.

They should realy just operate a zero tolerance policy.. blow the Pirate SOBs out of the water and leave them for fish bait..

How on earth do you confuse a battle ship with a freighter? Especially if you're from the area and would no doubt for years be exposed to boats? :confused:

It took the German naval ship and Greek, Dutch and Spanish naval ships as well as a Spanish marine aircraft and US marine choppers 5 hours to catch:

5 hours for military aircraft and ships to catch a few pirates in a speedboat, good lord, certainly makes you glad there wasn't a serious threat.

If it were the British navy who apprehended them they'd probably be eligible for asylum in the UK rather than prosecution like in any other country.

anyway they have speedy boats and they are highly maneuverable , a frigate will take some time to reach them if they are within a sizable distance....who wants to waste a penguin missile anyway
