Windows 7 7068 First impressions

Installing it now.

Still WAY slower then OS X is to install, I was up and running and installing apps in less than 15 mins now on the same HD, and the same system im at 20 mins and its still expanding files :/

I know its a beta but still, wasn't install times DROPPED!?
You want to try installing it on a proper PC rather than one of those ropey old Macs..... :D

Install times have dropped, even with vista the install was pretty fast. Windows just must detect the aluminium brick and want to put you through some pain. :o

Hmm anyonne else not able to access the internet after upgrading to the latest version? i seem to be having problems :(

*Edit* just uninstalled nod32 and its all working fine now :/ not sure what happened

Fresh install here and NOD32 no issues?

Must say Outlook 2007 opens in half the time compared to Vista :) good stuff!!

How do I remove boot options in Wondows 7? I had it dual booting with Vista but I decided to upgrade to 7 so now I have two W7 choices and I want to remove the one that isn't being used (I've formatted the drive).

Which version of NOD are you using, V3 or V4 and is it the all in one suite?

Well now my 7068 is crashing at boot with a nice blue screen!

Sod this!
To be fair it's a beta. In fact 7068 is a leaked daily build with minimal stability testing, in effect a "beta" of the beta. You're trying to install it on a Mac with customised Apple hardware and BIOS. It's not really suprising that you're having problems. I dare say Apple compatability testing isn't very high on the MS internal test schedule for a leaked build.

Tell you what, it installs on the vast majority of PCs much quicker than OSX does... Oh hang on, OSX doesn't install on a regular PC. Apple force you to buy their own overpriced hardware to be able to do that and take anyone who produces a non "Apple" PC capable of running OSX to court...

Some might suggest you've dropped in from the Apple forum to do a bit of trolling... Not I obviously

you're a 19 year old student. HOW CAN YOU AFFORD A TWO THOUSAND POUND COMPUTER?

Weird thing is he coulda got an equivilant i7 pc for much less, apparently the "pain and anguish" of working with windows was too much.

Jumping on the Win 7 bandwagon a little later than hoped....I'm running the 7000 build on my HP Dv1000 laptop, its fairly old and I'm having trouble finding suitable drivers. Any ideas?

I've also got this latest build on disk, is it worth re-installing to it?

Anyone else having shutdown problems? When i try and shutdown or restart it just hangs at the 'Shutting Down' screen forcing me to press the reset button on the box.

I dunno, people say that, but in my college class, for one of our units we had to install various operating systems on computers. The people sitting next to me installed the Windows 7 7000 beta, I installed Vista business edition.

The computers were 2.8GHz Pentium 4's with 512MB of RAM (surprisingly the OS's actually ran okay on these machines - no eyecandy, though, Vista actually refused to run with the "Aero basic" theme - inkball was awesome, though). I started maybe a minute after the people installing Windows 7 but was done quite a lot before them on those machines.

Either way, the install times for Vista on those particular machines did seem to be significantly faster.
