The friends server is still being hammered by the pirates, I'm afraid. As for functionality, it'll be drastically improved in the forthcoming Impulse updates that'll also include in-game VOIP.

It just completely b0rked me, added someone and its added them 550 times - thats going to be a long remove user session D:

Downloading this tonight.... i'm ignoring the gamespot review and going with the impression by you guys here.
As prob been said before how come the big named reviewers didnt get hold of it before the general public? Seems an odd sort of release. Guess we are all used to EA and big publishers with their millions of $$ flashing around telling us "this is the best game since last month"... "buy it for only £50!"

what spec is your machine, and what resolution is your monitor?

Sorry for the late reply, erm on a 3.0 ghz pentium4 with 1 gb ram and an ATI 4670 512mb, looking at the minimum requirements I should be ok on my 19" monitor, 1280x1024, if I turn everything down except possibly resol?

ok Lord Erebus is by far the most deadly character i have made so far. I completely carried my team mate's last night when playing online. May have been luck if we were playing pants people, but he just does so much damage.

Can anyone tell me what the single player experience is like with this game? Not a massive fan of online gaming, prefer offline....

Also, is this effectively an RTS like warcraft3 but you just control the hero (demigod)?

I don't think the singleplayer is that strong, it is just there for you to practice I guess. It is primarily an online game after all.

There are a series of paths through the level, with the main base for the teams at opposite ends of the map where the paths converge on. Monsters are spawned every few seconds to walk down these paths and meet in battle, and there will be obstacles, such as enemy towers, other demigods and monsters.

Game mode can be hold as many of the flags to rack up points and win, destroy the fortresses dotted along the paths, or destroy the enemy main base.

Your role is to play just one character, a demigod. You can upgrade the main base to benefit the team, which includes stuff like boosting health/damage of buildings, new monsters to join the attack, etc. This will of course cost you gold, and you can't buy everything at once because your citadel (the main base) levels up over time which unlocks things. If you don't want to spend money upgrading things for the team, you can spend your gold on items for yourself.

Challenge is to not get yourself killed.

If anything it's a slightly less complicated DotA. There are more game modes but far less heroes and items.

indeed, it's basically DotA with the following differences:

*It is much more polished
*Obviously better graphics/audio
*Internet play doesn't require tons o' mucking about
*Citadel's can be upgraded, providing better creeps and other buffs
*The maps have flags that need to be captured and held to gain more XP/Gold/Creeps etc
*It has a persistant tournament ladder, and persistant items for your char based on wins etc
*I'm not rubbish at it :p
