Latecomer to the thread, but anyone else think Rafael is a bit of a liability in terms of fouling too much and going far too forwards at times? I think it was evident in this game and another recent one which I can't remember.

yes and no because hes only 18 and i can accept a few mistakes from him as he has the potential to be a fantastic right back, the fact that fergie has the confidence to play him in a chapions league semi at his ages says wonders for me about how highly he is thought of, sure he will make a few mistakes however he potentially could be as good or better than evra, and to have two evras if you know what i mean bombing up and down each wing would be immense :p

Chelsea fan here. I really feel sorry for Fletcher, harsh penalty and a harsh red card, now he has to miss what would have been the biggest game of his career. Such a shame for him.

I must be the only person who was underwhelmed by the third goal.

There was so much space to exploit that it was less impressive than if they had to pass through a team.

Not having a go or anything and there was obviously loads of work to do when the got the ball on the edge of the box, just think the commentators went over the top.

Very easy game, cruised it for the most part but lost a lot of the cut and thrust when Anderson came off, dropping a little too deep as the game bypassed Giggs completely.

Gutted about Fletcher, it was a great tackle, but at the end of the day he didn't have to make it, at that point the match was over and he'd have been better having let Arsenal score. Also, some common sense from the referee would have done some good, why send a player off when the match is over, they got the penalty, just book him.

He deserves to play in the final.

but if Newcastle had scored it with Viduka to Martins to Owen, it would have been the goal of the century.

Credit where credit is due.

Nah, I normally am. But I'm being genuine here. :p

Some neutral back me up!

They won't because it was a sweet, fast, free flowing goal.

If Arsenal had scored it people would have been declaring the Second Coming.

(You may get cheets and knobbers like nabz agreeing with you)

no was just terrible defending, I was actually saying all game, what in the sweet Jesus is Theo Walcott doing in the penalty box for corners. He's simply not big enough to irritate a keeper like Cahill might try, he won't score, certainly isn't winning any headers. Why on earth isn't he on the half way line with other small/fast players watching for the fast break. YOu've got Djourou, slow and has no ability to read the game whatsoever, Eboue who actually got back and in Rooney's way if he shot, did all he could do, and SOng doing his, "i'll jog back, if everything gets incredibly lucky I might just run into a bad pass" crap. if that was Toure and not Song he'd be literally breaking his neck then doing some kung fu flying move into the net to try to clear the ball. It was simple, it was a very very well done simple and effective move. But at the end of the day it was an essentially unchallenge run pass and shoot.

I'd give a million quid to see Arsenal score like that again, in the past 3 years, counter attacking football, the cornerstone of the Henry era at the club, has barely been seen. Arsenal counter attacks these days amount to Adebayor standing 5 yards off side for the 50th time in a game and the linesman not spotting it. Did adebayor get a single pass to him where he didn't have his back facing the goal?

Wengers completely lost his marbles, I don't even know what to make of Adebayor not being substituted. It makes me think, the last people angling to get away from the club for higher wages and a huge ego, Anelka, we made a massive profit off and went on and got some great players with the cash. Yet Adebayor gets the ego, tries to leave as hard as possible, so we not only refuse some fantastic offers, we double his salary when he's still in contract and we had no need to.

Yet more proof for me that Wengers completely changed, 10 years or 5 years ago, Adebayor would either have been pushed out the back door, or stuck in the reserves for his behaviour.

If I'd been manager tonight and assuming I had some kind of stroke which made me pick Ade to start, 2-0 down so quickly and his complete inability to retain the ball or pass to anyone useful, I'd have taken him off at 20mins in for a real footballer. You simply can't play someone doing that little and get away with it, ok you can, you can't get away with 3/4 players doing that little though.

Just reading old posts as I never got a chance yesterday, I'm amazed at the amount of credit some people give Arsenal or United, it actually annoys me. All these comments about Arsenal 'passing us to death', please, they're playing Man Utd, not Mansfield.

Man Utd never get credit for their passing, even Scouse fan Beglin after 40 minutes, Man Utd 2-0 up and cruising states "Arsenal do play some good football don't they!", a stupid statement considering they'd done nothing, not look like breaking United down, 3-0 down on aggregate and getting beat at home. It's crazy really, some of Uniteds passing is as good as you'll see, but Arsenal always get the credit for their chuckle brothers passing.

All this talk of "It has to be an Arsenal vs Barcelona final for the sake of good football", it's ridiculous, some people would have you believe United are hatchet men and rely on pumping the ball into the box, it's incredibly annoying. Man Utd play better football than Arsenal, so wouldn't that make a better final? Some people talk such ****.

great performance, it seems united are really getting on form when its needed, the speed of the play for that 3rd goal was awesome, i feel sorry for fletcher though, i realy hope its overturned, and he gets to play, denying someone possibly the best day of there life like that is just wrong.
