**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Ade can vow to spin on it until we win a title for all I care. He's consistently full of **** in interviews.

I just remembered how much I miss Matthieu Flamini. I might write him some love letters.

lol.

Cracking player, shame Arsenal under rated him before his final season.

The Portuguese ace could be heading to the Bernabeu this summer if the Spanish club invoke a clause in their deal with Manchester United...

Real Madrid and Manchester United signed agreements last summer that the Spanish club could buy Cristiano Ronaldo after July 1 this year if they paid €80 million, according to a report.

Los Merengues have been linked with the Portuguese star for over a year and even without a permanent president in place, the rumours about him moving to the Bernabeu persist.

Disgraced supremo Ramon Calderon stated recently that a deal was in place and respected daily newspaper El Pais has now published details of what they believe is a binding contract.

Ronaldo could become the most expensive signing ever, despite the global recession, if Madrid take up their option to buy him after July 1 for a staggering €80m.

One clause that El Pais state could see United strongly object that the agreement should not have been leaked until May 31 and if it was then the deal could cancelled.

But that seems unlikely and Ronaldo has been accused of seeking to engineer a move away from Old Trafford with his petulant display when being substituted against Manchester City at the weekend.

Florentino Perez, who stepped down as Madrid president in 2006, is expected to win the forthcoming elections on June 15 at the Spanish club and he is known to want Ronaldo.

El Pais believe that the would-be leader has already held talks with the player's agent, Jorge Mendes, and is trying to broker a deal about how to pay the huge transfer fee in blocks over several years.

If Perez does not win, then it will be down to whoever does beat him to the hotseat to decide if they want to copy his planned return to the Galactico period with the mega-signing.

Iker Casillas stated this week that he feels Madrid should be focussing on building a team by buying the best Spanish players, like David Villa and David Silva, and combining them with youth teams products.

That does not seem to be on Perez's agenda and Ronaldo could now see the move that he stated last summer would be his dream, come true if United have signed the deal.

Sir Alex Ferguson was asked about such an agreement earlier in the campaign and ridiculed the idea of doing a deal "with that mob", as he described Real Madrid.

so if it's leaked before 31st of may united have the option to cancel the deal. talk about a get out clause for a made up story.

Yeah I meant after that match. Tosic has made a couple of sub appearances but hasn't really had enough time to make much of an impression yet.

fair enough - I cant remember how long they where out for after that

Evra has always been open about how terrible he felt after that match, but I cant remember Vidic ever saying anything.

Who cares anyway - look at them now (ok Evra's form hasnt been brilliant recently but thats temporary hopefully):D

Im all for getting in kids to grow in time - but a couple of 1st team (or 1st squad) players would be good too. Replacement for Tevez, Valencia and maybe a versatile defender also (Im ignoring these claims of leaked contract stipulations relating to our No 7)

It's going to be hard, but then again you pulled in Robinho, what matters in the football world these days you have a mountain of. If you outbid Manu & Liverpool for Tevez then his owners will sell to you, and a mark up on his contract will see him fine with it imo.

Owners have said in the past that they will only sell to somewhere Tevez wants to go to - and I cant see why he would not want to go to an CL club if bid by them (even at less money)

Liverpool could easily use him - but question is will Liverpool change to accomodate him (I doubt it) as this surely means moving Gerrard back into a more AM position rather than the partner with Torres which has been so successful (when allowed to be).

What's happened with our links to Ribery? Looks like they have died out.

Wouldn't mind buying in Valencia, Benzema and maybe another defender?

Why anyone would want to go to Real Madrid at the moment is beyond me

The club is an absolute joke, not competing for anything and not feared by anyone anymore. The club is full of has-beens. Yet Ronaldo seems to think Real are the ****

I don't understand that either. I know it's his childhood dream and the whole status of real, but these days they are turning into a pretty dire team. If he had any sense he would sort his attitude out and stay at united.

I think he also wants to move to Spain, they must have promised him some investment into the team when he arrives too. Either that or he's a bit dim!

It would be very interesting to see Tevez at Liverpool, teamed up with Torres and back with Mascherano, it might be quiet a tasty signing. BUT I very much doubt that Tevez wil sign for LFC (It would kill Fergie). ;)

I think that Tevez is probably better than Kuyt induvidually, but I think Kuyt has really made that place in the L'pool side his own and settled in excellently. He's looking very good at the minute, and there's no guarantees that Tevez could produce better performances than he is at the minute.

Tevez is a better version of Kuyt.
I dunno, they're similar, but while I'd say Tevez is generally better, I'd sooner have Kuyt in the right mid/forward role Benitez plays him in these days. I've never seen Tevez cross a ball in his life, and there's nothing that makes me think he'd be any good at it. Kuyt's actually pretty decent at whipping them in.

The only place Tevez would fit is in the middle, and I'm sure Robbie Keane will be more than happy to point out how easy it is to get consistent games there for 'Pool.

Tevez is actually pretty good at crosses, better than most people think.

They both bring similar roles to the team, it's just that Tevez actually has a decent end product like an attacking player needs to have. You have to admit Kuyts shooting ability is all over the shop half the time. Tevez would bring a lot more attacking power to Liverpools team.

Kuyt's crossing is very hit and miss, it can be very very bad but he never loses faith and gets more than his fair share of assists. Our first goal vs Arsenal sums him up, shocking first attempt at a very simple cross but the ball comes straight back to him and he puts it on Torres' head.

If we are after Tevez (and im pretty sure we are at the right price), he wouldn't be coming just to fill 1 role. Benitez likes his players to be able to play a number of positions in different formations and unlike Keane, Tevez is far more suitable to replacing Torres if and when he gets injured. Also, unlike Keane again, Tevez has shown he is capable of playing in a 3 man attack and i wouldn't be suprised at all to see him come in and play alongside Kuyt and Torres instead of Riera (there's a lot of rumours that despite a decent season, Riera might still be off in the summer).

edit: @ Robi: His end product is also very hit and miss but 14 goals and a fair few assists from a right sided role is pretty decent.

I would. The fact that Kuyt plays on the right may have something to do with that though :p

Anyway, a lot of the rags are running a similar story in the mornings papers, saying that we've made a take it or leave it offer to Valencia for Silva.
