**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Not according to this season he isnt - not even close to double

Berba certainly hasnt been that good I grant you - but Tevez has dropped off since last season too (and surely he should have got better in his 2nd season not worse)

He has had enough chances (ie starts / games) and not really shown much apart from one Carling Cup match - and the odd goal like at the weekend

Touche, good point. I just think Tevez shows more than Berbatov, younger too.

He may well have not have played as well this season as he did last season but at the time when he was first dropped for Berbatov, he was Utd's best player.

He lost his place in the side to accommodate Berbatov, lost his form and iinm hasn't really been given a decent run in the side since.

This season

His appearances arent that different from Gerrard (although maybe subs maybe a bit higher) and compared to last season isnt that different either

His contribution in most games hasnt been what we initially agreed to pay £30+ million - £3m /year is reasonable for the loan but no more

He started 39 league and european games last season (ignoring domestic cups as they're usually when the 'fringe' players play and often against weaker sides) compared with just 23 this season and i'd bet that the majority of those haven't been consecutive appearances either. So there is a big difference from last season.

Not sure why you're comparing him to Gerrard though

So who's is this Dodo we've signed? There are about a thousand dodos in Brazil, youngster?

No not thousands, they became extinct a few years back (or so they thought) and apparently he is the last remaining one.

Probably why he cost £5.4 Miiiiiillion

Especially since Gerrard has been injured.

Saying "he's played just as much as this guys who's been forced to miss games" hardly reinforces your point that he's been in the team plenty.

Alonso to madrid latest on the rumour mill...

Apparently Arsenal are keeping an eye on him too... I read that on the BBC wesbite since my work blocks pretty much EVERY sports link I ever see!!
I think the age & well established experience of Xabi would help & fit perfectly for Fabregas. Xabi could be that holding midfielder that Wenger wants Diaby to be so badly with the chances he gives him and allow Fabregas to roam freely and create scoring chances for himself and others. They could be an awesome pair for the Gunners and Spain alike.

It could well be a horrific mistake trying to play Alonso alongside Fabregas, especially if we don't seriously improve our defence, but it's the kind of sexy footballing mistake I'd be quite inclined to risk.

yeah that is true... its no good having these good play-makers if the squad is giving up shots on goal more than chances created.
Who have Arsenal been linked with, defense wise?? You guys over there hear more than I obviously would since I'm stateside, but I try to keep up as much as possible through the net...

Wenger is entirely convinced that there are no central defenders available to buy in the entire world.

The likes of Bassong, Sakho, Lescott, Hangeland etc. have all been linked, all would be an improvement in my opinion

because Gerrard has made the same amount of appearances, albeit less sub.

Nigh on 50 appearances isnt bad imo - especially with how shocking he was playing during mid-season (seing as Utd have played 64 so far)

Actually they would HAVE to be pretty consecutive with that many appearances out of that total - otherwise you couldnt amass that amount. (ie miss every other game and you would get to 32 apps so far, so start adding in the the remaining 18 or 19 incl last night and you suddenly get aload of mini runs of at least three games ...if not a lot more)

Anyone getting 50 apps in a season for a major club should be happy....unless they are grinding another axe...

Utter nonsense.

Gerrard has been injured no less that 3 times this season for a start, secondly Gerrard has started every game (other than the League Cup) that he was fit to do so.

Of Utd's 48 (?) league and CL games, Tevez has started less than half of them and as i said before, i doubt very much that he's had any kind of extended run in the side. It would be interesting to know if he's started more than 4 games in a row at any point this season.

Your point was that he's had just as many opportunities Gerrard and as he had last season and he quite clearly hasn't.

edit: and Regarding Tevez's future; KJ has said that Utd haven't made Tevez any offer despite what Fergie said last night.
