NOD32 v4

that too soon as V3 was released few months ago - seem it could be fix the problems in V3 and upgrade to V4... I used Kaspersky 2009 that came out June 2008 and dont know when next version due... Im still using KIS 2009 cos it great stuff.
 
It's a real shame so many people are having problems with it. :(

I have been using NOD32 v4 since release and I can't say I have personally experienced a single problem with the new version.

I had a similar problem and the culprit was Windows Defender - disabling that solved the problem. Conflict with NOD's real-time AV scanner maybe?

Well spoke too soon, after getting success with Vista I decided to update the kids laptop with v4 and on shutdown/logoff I now get an application has errored type dialog, again looking on the Eset forums it seems that others are getting the same but Eset have not been able to reproduce the problem.

It's more of an annoyance then anything else so will just wait to for a fix to come out.

Just a quick Q to you all - when you install do you select it to automatically install program component upgrades? When I set it to "offer" it never offers them (as far as I can tell), so I tried auto. However, it is still showing 4.0.417.0 in the version number, whereas the latest has been 4.0.424.0 for a while now... isn't this supposed to change with auto update?

Yeah mines on auto and am running 4.0.314.0. I noticed the popup on my bro's saying 'program module' updated but haven't seen which version that is yet.

i would like to renew my nod32 subscription at the end of the month , what i would like to know is , is nod32 antivirus still very good also if i renew will i get v4 as standard?

I've not had any problems with V4 on Vista 64bit. If you're renewing you should get the latest version which is V4.
 
Oh btw, is anyone else having problems with Windows Live Mail crashing on start-up? Been having this problem on 2 comps ever since upgraded from v3 to v4.

I was/am getting this occasionally (I put it down to Windows 7 being pre-release) Using Nod32 V4 latest build, clean install. Other than that (if it is Nod related) I'm very happy with it as an AV.

Yes I would say it is. The first build or two didn't work for me but 4.0.424 works fine. No noticeable system slow down and its updating itself all the time nice and silently. After a few weeks on Avast, between NOD32 v3 and v4, I keep checking that NOD32 is updating itself and I always find its running a newer db than last time. :)
