TF2 Sniper Update

I think after 25 hours, 38 achievements and several thousand kills i'm entitled to one but hey, i guess i'm only complaining cause i haven't recieved one yet. All those people with the nice new stuff can't see the issue here.

Summed it up there. Love it when people on servers complain about getting another huntsman or something....at least you have one!?!?! :o

edit: see above :p

Actually sat in an achievement server yesterday for a bit. Got an Ubersaw which I already had. :(

So that's 2 unlocks after about 20 hours of play, 4 of which in an idle server.

600 kills now and all I have to show for it is Kritzkreig and KGB :(. Yeah I know it's not based on kills... but I feel cheated because I have killed more than most people do all week!

3 days of killing and I got NOTHING. PLenty fo people are getting lots alla round me so it would appear the new system does not work properly for everyone.

No idling because I can't find a server that lasts more than 20seconds for me, but so far I've got -

Ignore the other bit of the screen I couldn't be bothered editing.

lol
After using the Backburner since I got it, I now realise just how much better the normal burner is, the compression is great for clearing cart pushers :D did it loads

Backburner really is pointless now

except for all the suicide bomber pyros who just charge straight into the enemy to set as many people on fire as they die.

Which seems to be most pyros unfortunately.

I don't get why people are making such a big deal out of the unlocks.

Here's a pro-tip: You're still playing the same game you were presumably enjoying before the update/unlock change came out. If you still mained Soldier, Demo or whatever before the update - guess what, they're still in the game and they still play the same as before.

People saying about how the game is suddenly "ruined" or "unplayable" or whatever when something is added to classes they don't even play (or play competently) just boggles the mind.

Sniper and Spy require an above-average level of skill (particularly Spy imo), if you sucked at playing either of them before the update you're still going to be mediocre with them with the new unlocks.

True but it does feel rubbish that loads of other players get loads of unlocks and you get nothing. For no good reason! :(

A flame-thrower is a short range weapon, what else is a pyro going to do.

Pyros that attack from the front die quickly, to be successfull with the backburner you need to outflank the enemy. Sneaking behind enemy lines and backburning a heavy-medic combo and their support just before they launch an ubered attack on your defence is not that easy, when you can't turn invisible.

Got me a 8 kills before dying and allowed my team to cap a point yesterday :)

Pyro is great in the right circumstances. If you can ever flank the enemy then pyro is amazing, even if you can't flank them if you can get close, they are great. The biggest drawback is they have no range and sentries eat them for breakfast (unless you can drop on top of it and run around burning it).

When i play the entire aim is to take out medics and if possible the heavy they are healing. If you are on the offense or defence, it really makes a difference

Anyways, Soldier is the update im least looking forward to. They're so imbalanced as it is. They can do point-blank one shot kills and do hardly any damage to themselves. Pah.

I'm looking forward to the Soldier update - hope they get those laser-guided rocket launchers they have in half-life.

They did change it a while back so soldiers take more damage form their own rockets, it's easy enough to get an inexperienced soldier to kill themselves at close range.

And yet ive seen people who dont run at the enemy, trying to hide and loose points becasue of them being scared of dying, for christs sake its only a game, you get more than 1 life, take as much of the buggers out before you die, respawn and kill the rest.

Thats my gamming plan when i play pyro or heavy, which is rarely as i tend to play medic the most.

i agree. this isn't so much a game about K/D ratio. its about the team score in the end considering they cant see your KD. so getting points and capturing objectives is the aim. i love being scout and i dont go out of my way to kill people, my aim is to get in captre points or grab intel. if i have a fight on the way then so be it but half my time is spent dying trying to figure roots past sentrys so i can benefit the team.

Some people are just naturally competitive. I played Halo 2 semi-competitively for about 4 years and that game simply relies on K/D ratio, so any other game I play I try to keep a good ratio too. Habit I suppose.

Not that I can keep a good ratio because I'm awful but that's beside the point. :p
