are we only able to download one file at a time? I've got one downloading at the moment, and when i click to download another, nothing happens.........

I had that problem too. Try minimising the File Transfer manager before initiating a new download.

<- is posting from a Vista Ultimate install that I just activated.

So let's see if it gets remotely shut down or I get a bill. :P

Is that 64bit with SP2? I've installed it on another machine and it's gone **** up. IE kept telling me it had stopped responding so I stuck Firefox on via a USB stick which works just fine but anything that gets downloaded is automatically deleted!

If it helps, on XP the program is installed here...

"x:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\TransferMgr.exe"

Where x is the letter for your boot drive. I don't use Vista myself but you might try looking for the same folder in Vista's "Windows" folder and deleting the appropriate .exe in that folder instead. Hopefully that will force Internet Explorer to redownload it. If it does, next time your start it up, click on the options button and then on the first tab at the bottom it will have the option to "Place app shortcut on desktop". When you've done that it will be easier to load it and checking the properties of that shortcut will tell you where it's installed :)

It seems when i go to that folder on Vista it is completely empty, I've made sure that it is set to show hidden files, etc but nothing. Can even remove it via Internet Explorer add-ons.

There were only so many RC keys and they were all posted in the Win7 RC release thread here at OCuk. If I remember correctly, there was only a dozen different ones for both the x64 and x86 version. The reason why there were so few is that they were VLK and so could be used and activated an unlimited number of times. As such, we all posted them freely in that thread. All you need to do is dig that thread up and use any key you find :)

Ah found it thanks!

Run a search from the root of your boot drive for...

TransferMgr

...without the .exe on the end. Make sure it's set to include searching subfolders as well. That should find it unless Vista's file system protection thing has it hidden away :(

Never mind, fixed the problem. Everything is still working fine on this Vista install.

This is all very odd indeed. Microsoft seem to be behaving very oddly of late. They continue to counter piracy efforts on XP and yet have taken no measures against Vista at all. Now they are even offering it free to basically anyone with a little knowledge along with all the other PC software including XP. I think this Xbox melarky must be making them a fortune, allowing windows to spread like a virus across the internet. Who knows, this may even convert some linux user to trying windows as it's free. Just some random thoughts.
