**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

From what I can tell he's not worth £10m, he's only 23 (not the age Arsenal need to be looking for) and he's also quite small. I think that for £10m there are better players out there. Apparently he has potential to be good though, he's just not the answer this summer.

Ah well. At least it's only the sun that is saying anything about it. But then, other than Hangeland, I don't really know of a CB for Arsenal, in their price bracket.

Times are reporting Liverpool have bid for Distin and are interested in signing Tuncay. Think Tuncay would be a good signing, but probably as 3rd or 4th choice striker, still think we'd need to bring in a second choice striker as well.

£38m for Pato seems like insane money to me, thats what...£13m more than Torres was? Maybe I have just fallen way out of touch with football money, but £38m for a 19year old just seems ludicrous.

Yeah it is, i am sure there are better price/performance ratios out there, but if we did get pato for a decent price then thats exactly the type of msigning i think we should make.

Dos Santos looks good. Can only imagine in ~5 years time a midfield headed by Michael Woods not Frank Lampard and a strike force of Dos Santos and Pato :p

Pato is incredible, he has everything needed to become the best striker in the world in the next 10 years, but £38m is just dumb, can't believe what's becoming of football :/ The bubble has to burst soon.

Real Mardrid offering Kaka £200k a week, Pato for £38m, Berbatov for £30m, Liverpool wanting £35m for Alonso, seems pretty bad still

Are those all confirms bids/offers that have been accepted, or is it just paper talk?

How long has it been since the biggest transfer in the world happened? I'm pretty sure it was long enough ago to enable the player to retire since...

Also, people need to remember the complete dive the pound has taken in the exchange rate.

Kaka's transfer to Real Madrid might seem like the biggest transfer in the world to us, but in Euros, it's actually not.

Pato is worth 50 million if he signs a lengthy contract - he is going to be the best striker in the world within 2-3 years, hes miles ahead of torres. look at his scoring record on wikipedia

Im with you on the fact Pato has huge quality and potential - already better than Torres? Not with you on that one yet... Torres is another level, give Pato 2 more seasons and he will be a world beater.

You cant really compare the statistics as they wildly differ in terms of one statutory attribute within the statistcs. Pato has played less than 25% of the games that Torres has, there is no way of knowing if Pato will still have a better game-goal ratio when he reaches 270 games played.

Its a bit of a stretch to declare that anyone..Pato included, will be the best striker in the world within 2-3 years. I absolutely agree that Pato is hugely talented, whether or not that talent will come to resolution is a different matter. Frankly, if it was me , there is no way I would pay £38m for a 19 year old, no matter who the 19 year old is.
