Even less nurses, just what the nhs needs, idiots. Hypocritical too, banning bnp party members like the police do is fascist and discriminatory in itself.

They work in a job where they have to deal regularly with ethnic minorities, and explicitly supporting a party who is against the presence of ethnic minorities in Britain compromises their ability to do that in a neutral and effective way. At the very, very least it opens them up to accusations of bias that would make their jobs inefficient to the point of untenability; in worse cases, they might very well act in a genuinely biased way.

It's a very simple thing and has nothing to do with fascism or discrimination.

yes, correct, however they use the term positive discrimination and linking the word up with good aspects, but at the end of the day its still racist.

"You do not wipe away the scars of centuries by saying: 'now, you are free to go where you want, do as you desire, and choose the leaders you please.' You do not take a man who for years has been hobbled by chains, liberate him, bring him to the starting line of a race, saying, "you are free to compete with all the others," and still justly believe you have been completely fair... This is the next and more profound stage of the battle for civil rights. We seek not just freedom but opportunity—not just legal equity but human ability—not just equality as a right and a theory, but equality as a fact and as a result." -- Lyndon Johnson, 1965.

Such a shame it still hasn't sunk in after 54 years.

Edit: to take parliament as an example, there are 15 non-white MPs of a total of 646 MPs; if ethnic minorities were fairly represented, there would be 60. There are 100 female MPs; if they were fairly represented, there would be around 320. Do you really think there is equality of opportunity for women and ethnic minorities, or are you just another whinging white man who can't see how privileged he is?

If you werent, then dont post crap simple. if you have a reason why you posted a lock you should say why, not just lock and run.

Because there has already been some flaming, and no doubt there will be more to come.

Doesnt really matter who you support, as long as the work is done, using your view the same can be said for many labour mps and their private jobs.

I think it is time for bed mattheman.. Thanks for derailing this thread. This thread was about NW_SKINHEAD and you fudged it.. I hope you are happy with yourself.

Did you even read my post? "As long as the work is done"--being a member of the BNP severely compromises your ability to get your work done in a neutral and effective manner when you are a doctor, a nurse, or in various other public roles.

outlawed discrimination everyman is equal was his view, what we have now is some are more equal than others.

Why does it? Well think you may need a bit of help here, for one there is a ethical code of pratice, 2nd other things compromise your ability to work. Example labour MPs work in other industries, so are you saying they shouldnt join labour or shouldnt have private job? you still dont understand and i think you many never get it, inorder to have a functional society everyone must have the same laws placed upon them, if not, then we can never be equal.

You can apply that too the amount of male nurses v female nurses. What you fail to understand inorder to have an equal society you need to eliminate discrimination.

Yes, and there is clearly still discrimination in existence or else ethnic minorities and women would be fairly represented in society. So, it's necessary to actively work against that discrimination.

Do you have any proof of this or are you just basing your decision on the fact that it is a vague possibility?

Any nurse can fail in their duty of care for their patients. I very much doubt their political party has any sway and nor do I believe that anyone's political views should be used against them in such a manner. Should we also ban Christian/Muslim nurses because differences in their religious views and those of their patients could cause a drop in the level of care they provide?

No we should not because it is, quite frankly, a ridiculous assumption to hold.

You don't have to justify your political views to people who disagree with you; least of all on the internet.

I am not justifying it, just wondering why they have a closed mind about certain things. and because i vote for a party that will look after my interests, so iam a racist, i dont really care about skin color more about the way this country has lost control and the complete failure of the current government, with its racist policies. This government has brain washed its citizens has made life expensive for many and lowered wages for others, while seeking to benefit their own pockets.

Did you ignore the second point? It opens them up to accusations of bias regardless of whether they are in fact biased. That in itself compromises their ability to do their job, whether or not they're actually doing it properly. The police in particular have a tough enough time tackling both institutional racism and the perception of institutional racism without allowing their officers to explicitly voice racist viewpoints. How can you not see that this is a problem, both on an individual and an institutional level?

Being a Christian or a Muslim does not in itself imply any sort of bias in the same way that supporting a political party whose central tenet is anti-immigrationism does. But yes, I would apply the same sort of rigorousness to other political and religious organisations that had this impact, this isn't some BNP witch-hunt--it's just that the BNP is the only such party currently vaguely popular in the UK, so it receives the most focus.
