My new £5000 pc build

just wait till i get things sortedd out and anser my challenge that i posted up !

Answer your challenge? Your challenge was "spec me exactly what I've chosen, for cheaper". That's not possible. If you'd said "spec me a machine for a similar price with more performance", well, that's easy. I could quite easily spec you up a £5k system with SSD's and a better monitor, and £1500 left over for your watercooling and overpriced peripherals.

There seems to be heavy doses of sarcasm, and not enough help in this thread.

I think the guy gets it. He did a crap job of choosing components, wasted a lot of money, and is probably attention seeking as this build probably doesn't exist.

So what?

Quit the smart arse stuff. 4 pages of that is enough for anybody.

Some of you are acting like playground bullies.

If he genuinely did save up 5 grand, then good for him. Its his money, and he can spend it however he likes. Good english is not a pre-requisite for hard work.

If this is not genuine, then he is attention seeking. Which at 16 is not the greatest crime in the world either.

Personally I found the motherboard spacers question an interesting one myself. As I will be doing my first 'from scratch' build myself next week (closer to 2K :)). Do those spacers come with the motherboard or case? Or would I need to buy a pack myself?

Also, can someone recommend a good pc toolkit for doing the build? Can't find one on here. Thanks.

I agree, it is a bit petty to tease him, but when someone called "rich boi" randomly pops up and buys a £5000 computer with liquid cooling, no knowledge or experience of how to build it, and hasn't even bothered asking or looking for advice first, there's only two things you can say: "BS", or "idiot".

As for your build, you've done exactly what rich boi should have. Asked for advice :)

Can't remember whether spacers came with my mobo or case, but they WILL be with one, you don't need to buy any.

Shouldn't need a toolkit if you're buying a half decent case. My Antec 1200 came with a little universal key thing which can unscrew any part of the case that isn't tool-less.

Brilliant but you can't call it a gamers system capable of playing games at high levels.

I'm not against cheap computers. I buy and use 2nd hand stuff myself.

but a couple of K on a computer is not a total waste and you can not play games comfortably on a 17" monitor.

It runs Call of Duty 4 @ high settings at its native 1280x1024.... Same goes for World @ War.....

I never said a couple of k on a PC is a waste, far from it, it would leave £3k spare - from the OP's £5k "budget" - for that car & holiday i refered to....

I've gone from a 19in CRT to the 17in TFT you see in my pic and its fine for playing games - sure a bigger TFT would be nice but I'd beg to differ with the view that you "can't play games comfortably on a 17" Monitor" imo you can & I do. If anything, in my own case, I'd find I would not be able to play comfortably on a larger monitor due to the limitations of my cheap & cheerful rig... :o

The point being - which is pointless given the general direction of this thread - you don't have to spend the earth to get a half decent games rig, but its good if you can afford the extra outlay.

If that outlay represents value for money however is another topic for another day......

I'm not against expensive computers, sadly, my budget is.

Totally agree with D D Danneh. When someone doesn't know how to build a PC, doesn't bother asking first and goes ahead and gets components ordered, then makes a thread saying 'wey hey, look at me' - Hmmm, I smell BS.

Alright ladies, please calm down now, you've hurled enough abuse at the guy.

At 16, the guy is bound to be a little naive and has made some mistakes, but who doesn't? I don't think people should be constantly putting him down, instead we should try and help him build his PC when he gets going.

It's clearly horse poo - this is a 13 year old living in a fantasy world... my brother's friends are the same "I'm getting this in a week" just speccing one of the most expensive of everything.

£450 (+£100 for a 22" monitor) got me a PC that will play all modern games on medium at a reasonable resolution. £600 (ie a £200 GPU rather than £50) would let me run most things at high on that 22" monitor, £1,000 would give everything you need for a superb gaming rig without wasting a penny.

Apart from anything else, where's the photos if these were bought a couple of days ago? Last time I checked, next day and saturday delivery would both have delivered by now.

5k on a pooter, you should save 4k of that for a car and insurance, spend 1k on a computer.

I say this because when you decide its time you went clubbing and chasing girls with your mates, your computer will gather dust in the corner of your bedroom :)

Seriously little fella just spend a grand, you will have as much fun on a grand comp as you will spending 5k for it to be old junkyard tat in 12 months.

Its your money and I respect that, just listen to the old farts here who have "been there, done that & got the T-shirt".

Good luck to you Rich boy.

+1

.... but still, 5k...

i only paid £107 for the HD720p camcorder!!!!!!! i will as soon as possible right now i am doing reivsion for my last 3 exams also i got like 30 OEM boxes the camcorder is in one of them i cant open everysignle box just wait till i get things sortedd out and anser my challenge that i posted up !

So you bought a camcorder specifically for the unboxing, but you could end up having to unbox all of your stuff before you end up finding your camcorder? Righto.

Whatever makes you happy I suppose.

There's a possibility this guy is telling the truth but he has contradicted himself in his posts many times so I remain skeptical. However it doesn't really matter whether I believe him or not - if he's lying, then that's his problem and he should find something better to do. If he's telling the truth, then fair play to him and hopefully he'll have learnt that there are better approaches to buying things.

i am planning to play Crysis 1 and 2 and maximum edition on max with 16 x anti-aliasing cod 4 and 5 on max modern warfare 2 on max assassins creed 2 on max

I am surprised you are building a £5k machine just to play those specific games...oh and by the way Crysis Maximum edition actually includes Crysis, Crysis Warhead and Crysis Wars (the latter 2 not requiring even a £1K system to run fine).

So how old r u again? 16 you say? ok, lets assume you are 16, what job were you doing for the past 2 years that allowed you to save £5K? I couldnt save half that in that space of time even if I tried. I am 13yrs older than you are and my latest system has cost me so far £1500+ and thats not including the keyboard, mouse, sound card and speakers cos those I have had since end of 2007 so really we're talking only about the CPU, monitor, RAM, mobo and case oh and my recent water cooling set up.

So tell me, young one, with the amount you have spent on your 'dream machine', were you planning on just gaming or have NASA asked you to do some planetary research for them for the next 50 years? Bearing in mind they already have one of the world's fastest supercomputers.

Looked at thread title, looked at username, did this IRL:

also i will post the vid on youtube because i bought a HD 720p Toshiba camilio camcorder just for the purpose of unboxing's, the build itself and also if i get stuck i might post a vid on youtube to ask you guys to help me

Nice camcorder that is...cos I have the exact same one. Only it cost me £10 less lol. Anyway, you have yet to produce pics let alone videos. May I direct you to the first machine listed in my sig? If you click on the link, and read through, you will see a couple of videos I have made there myself showing my first ever water cooling. Then read the comments afterwards.

Until you have shown proof, I suggest you grow up.

Heh, 6 pages, 155 replies and 2682 views – when I next get a problem and need some advice fast I’m going to stick ‘£5000’ somewhere random in the title of the thread. ;)
