**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Considering Silva and Villa are Spanish it's unlikely they will come here I guess, but that's if they have any say in the issue - if they are so heavily in debt i imagine the club will put a lot of pressure on them to sign for the highest bidder?

Tough one I suppose. Imagine for instance that 2 bidders come in for Villa. One offers £50 million and one offers £40 million. Now lets say that Villa really doesnt want to go at all, but if he really had to, he would want to go for the £40 million team as he says he doesnt really want to go for the team that offered £50 million.

Although the club might well prefer £50 million, they might take the view that a guaranteed and quick £40 million is a more viable deal than trying to force and drag out the £50 million deal.

(having said that, I am still of the opinion that Villa wont go anywhere anyway and will remain where he is. Silva on the other hand I suspect will move, but whether to Real Madrid or any one of about 8 other teams who are interested is a different question)

I would like Ronaldo to go now, good as he is, this constant banging on about Madrid and him being the best player in the world is getting boring.

I'm pretty sure the best player in the world would be able to cross a ball more often than not, and not consistently waste free kicks by blazeing them into row z.
I'm also fairly cofident we could replace his goals by getting someone who could take a corner with some degree of competency as most of the players at the club at the moment seem to find this beyond their abilities.

The 26 million has nothing to do with united though, Its an alledged agreement between ronaldo and real. If Real don't but him for the 75million trigger then they have to pay ronaldo 26 million not united and if ronaldo doesn't leave united as agreed he owes them 26 million.

That was my reading of it. The sooner the better i'm sick of it being in the papers as staying then going.

Somewhere real seem to have gotten hold of the trillion dollar bill from the simpsons all the 40/50 million plus signings they keep banging on about.

No I know that - maybe my post was misleading

What I meant was, Utd can use the timeline on the agreement as part of the negotiations - so if talks are still going on late in June, Utd can say "look we know you have to pay Ronaldo £26m if he doesnt sign by x date - pay us an extra £10m and we will let you have him now ) ie saving RM £16m or whatever

Im not doubting its a balancing act but it could be done with good negotiators

There is no agreement between Ronaldo and Real Madrid. Even the new Real Madrid president said as much a few days ago. There is no pre contract agreement in place, nor would there ever have been permission agreed by Ferguson or Man Utd to allow Ronaldo to talk to anyone from Real Madrid. The media are spouting crap. He is not for sale nor has he asked for a transfer request.

Has Ronaldo EVER blazed the ball into row z? he either (99/100) smashes it straight into the wall or it goes in.

He misses loads, its a treat if he hits the wall cause at least it was on target.
Its great once in a while and he has scored some belters, and yes the defenders a quick enough to get back if he hits the wall or the keeper gets it out quick, but we load the area up each and every time, and each and every time he takes the shot on, he doesnt swing one in, he doesnt chip one over the top, he doesnt lay it off, each and every time its a pot shot, and I simply dont believe that percentage wise its the best chance of scoring a goal.

I'm all for taking it on from 40 yards, as there isnt really a lot else you can do, but 20 yards out, with the technique he uses, its a waste, let someone who can put some bend on it take it on.

yeah I know he misses loads and I wish we'd try something different, occasionally this season Giggs has had a go but every one has been pretty awful, Hargreaves would be nice for the occasional set piece or tevez/rooney, my point was i don't think he tends to sky them I think more often he smashes them straight into the wall.

I think there has to be a better balance as in, not every freekick should be a direct shot taken by Ronaldo. There are times when a ball floated over the wall towards someone in the box is better. We waste so many corners and freekicks through bad decisions and poor kicking.

When has that ever stopped anyone?

Perez has also said time and again there IS one - (and several other people) - maybe there isnt, but you dont know for sure

I actually think Ronaldo DID ask for a transfer last summer which is why Fergie had to fly out to see him face to face and persauded R to stay another season

Also this inclusion of a £75m release clause in his contract I can believe also, maybe total BS I dont know, but given some of his antics it isnt that hard to believe

Tevez scored some belters in his West Ham day's shame he's never given the chance at freekicks at UTS. I guess it comes down to who does what in training. We've certainly missed Hargreaves input in freekicks this season
