Istanbul - TURKEY Grand Prix 2009 - Race 7/17

Glad to hear KERS is going, all it has done is promote boring overtaking (effortless pass in a straight line) and made it impossible for a car without it to overtake through anything other than a mistake from the KERS car.

I'm still blown away by the BBC coverage this year. We are in the garages, virtually in the cars at some points of pre-race, interviews with all the team people behind the scenes, the post-race Forum - it's absolutely stonking, ITV did virtually nothing on this level.

I like it when "Crazy Dave" joins in the gridwalks too :D

Excellent performance by Button, he really was a cut above throughout the entire race.

that's been teh case with BBC since I've been alive...

ITV's coverage of anything pales into utter insignificance when compared to the same subject matter the BBC convey....whether it's the champions league final or formula 1.... ITV are just in it to make money from the businesses they advertise in their commercial breaks... and you can see this from their lack of coverage and complete ineptitude regarding any enthusiasm for Formula 1.

Just my 2 cents ;)

oh and excellent race by JB again. I'm getting well excited and can't wait till I see them all at Silverstone in 2 weeks time. Bring it on!

The only times a driver isn't a multiple world champion is if they don't get a decent car again, they quit or if the lose the desire after the first.

Can't see the 2nd and 3rd option happening - JB defo has the desire, I just think it is too much to hope they build him another dominant car while the Red and Silver teams don't.

I've been a Button fan since seeing him run in formula fords at Brands many, many years ago and would love for him to be a multiple champ, just can't see it happening somehow.

I do take your point about the team rating him and he's clearly more their future than Rubens and has now repaired his previosly tarnished image following the Williams departure given the loyalty he's shown since joining the Honda team etc. The Brawn does seem to suit his smooth style, but Rubens hasn't done badly in it as well (except today with no 7th gear)

It was an excellent race to watch :D

Shame about Barichello but thats racing, I thoroughly enjoyed watching Vettel chasing down Button and thought he was going to get by

Great racing :D

Pre-race chat was also very good, Brundell and DC walking around asking everyone questions was great, big LOL at Naomi Campbell though when DC asked her who she was supporting 'England' Brawn or Redbull would have been a better response ;)

I will be amazed if rubens gets an extension to his contract in anything other than a no2 role. That seems to be ross brawns way. Support one driver in a title push.

I see them going for a young driver whose highly rated in a support role. Rubens I can see doing another year at one of the new teams.

Rubens is a nice guy and I hope he gets a win or three before he leaves Brawn because he's worked hard for the team as well. When he reflects on his career I hope he regrets selling his soul for a ferrari drive.

Id say thats the Flavio or Ferrari way rather than Ross Brawn when he was attached to Schumacher winning his titles...

ps3ud0

It was an excellent race to watch :D

we watching the same race ?

as much as i love jenson and a british team winning. It is almost akin to the schumacher yawn fests.

as somebody has already said, its the same as previous years, couple of teams at the top completely dominating everybody else. Just the order got changed round a bit.

I can see what your getting at, but for me it was a good race.
- Vettel tripping up on his first lap and button passing
- Button pulling well ahead
- Vettel reeling him back in

Moment of 'OMG Vettel is going to pass soon'

I've never been into F1 before as I found it boring, this year it kind of clicked and I love watching it :)

Jenson/Brawn are British so why not enjoy the fun whilst it lasts?

Agreed this year has been as dull as any schumacher year. They have reduced the aero but it's still to high a ratio to mechanical grip. The races oz apart have offered nothing from last year.

It was nailed on that if vettel hadn't made a mistake jenson was just going to sit 1 second behind him and wait for the first stop.

Its good for him, but did you see his 1 word answers earlier in the season.
He does seem to have accepted his fate now, which is good, he can continue doing the best job he can for now....

yes he did seem a bit pee'd off but the questions he was being asked seemed to be looking for some sort of reaction

Hill was very very close, then moved (strangely) to a poor car. Not sure you could say he wasnt

i thought Williams didn't want hill for the following year and saw more potential in villeneuve

The story goes they didnt want hill after the total **** up he made of 95. The decision was made then to shed him after 96. Personally I believe he was shed when he demanded 10-12 million after winning the title. I find it hard to believe even if they preferred JV that they wouldn't cash in on a british driver and one that worked well with Jacques.

A huge mistake by Hill who was then offered a performance based contract by Mclaren for 1 million per win. He turned that down as insulting to a world champion and ended up at arrows as the other places where all gone.

Personally I think that because its two different teams regularly competing for the wins its nowhere near so bad as Ferrari, Ferrrari, Ferrari

Not only that but when Schumi was in the cockpit - who ever else was in the other Ferrari was never going to be allowed to win no matter what, at least today proves that Red Bull will allow Mark Webber to get infront if he can, and the same goes for Rubens if he can somehow beat Jenson (far less likely I personally think but you never know)

McLaren was always biased towards Hakkenen and Ferrari towards Schumi, and most of those races McLaren didnt stand a chance, thats what made it more boring

Thats the thing with publishing the fuel at the start - it should be a good step forward, but instead as in todays case, as you point out Jenson didnt need to do anything as he was obviously faster all day - he just needed to sit there until the first stop, blitz two laps - allow for a longer stop and still come out ahead and he would have been ok even though he was heavier nearly all day

Why push the car harder than you need to - it is all about reliability at the end of the day. You can be sure however that if Vettel or Webber get a win (or maybe that should be when) that driver will start putting in much better performances, they arent doing badly at all now by any means - but little mistakes are creeping in, which are proving costly

Im praying Silverstone is a reasonably dry race - if its a deluge, Brawn's arent going to have fun

A decent race. I dont like Button, but I do like to see a Brit winning.

What is shocking is that some people on this forum actually believe that anyone apart from Button can actually win a dry race. The guy is pretty much unstoppable on a dry track and with the BrawnGP car being the class of the field, by a country mile (dont believe what you see in qualifying, when they get out-qualified), its hard to see anyone beating the BrawnGP/Button combination.

Barrichello really is showing that his driving is far too eratic, where he tends to get himself into all sorts of problems. He seems to be playing bumper cars in a lot of the races this year. He is in the fastest car on the track and really should be finishing no lower than 3rd.

Personally, I want to see a return of the big teams, and the big drivers (Ferrari, McLaren, Renault, Alonso, Hamilton, etc), fighting it out.

For anyone other than Button fans, I have to say the races can seem a little boring.

Gone are the days of people taking a 1second advantage in quali yet one person is dominating, I don't get it personally.

We have to remember that we are in season one of a massive rule overhaul. If we get over all this budged rubbish we should see things get interesting next year. The problem with Turkey is that the race is a fast out one so ourtight speed is the easy winner, hence Massa winning last year. Kovi had a clear spoeed advantage of Rubens today showign that even the doggest of cars can beat the Brawn in some manner so it's not a total washout. Could it be that Button really is just a class ahead? I like to think so when you compare him to the like of Kovi who show lots of promist when he came in but couldn't keep up with Lewis last year.

I'm a Button fan, but I was a bit bored today I must admit. Monaco was exciting for once and Australia was great too. We've got some of the better circuits coming up so hopefully we at least see some drama throughout the field.

.

So massa can win all the races instead of Button you mean (as lets face it McLaren and probably Renault are going to have to build a brand new car before they stand a chance of winning outside a lot of other failures/crashes ahead of them) - Kimi doenst look like he turns up to most races so its only likely to be Massa of the lot you mentioned

Anyone can have an off day, a bad pitstop, a gearbox failure or even just a puncture that loses 30s or more, so Red Bull are dangerous without doubt especially with better strategy calls - and the next race is likely NOT to be dry which works into Red Bulls hands (or wheels? lol) also , I dont think Ferrari will win before the summer breaks - but after its a distinct possibility depending on dev on other cars

On the right tracks Alonso and Hamilton may be able to fight for lower points finishes but they need a lot of dev before they get podiums etc (or other teams to severely drop the ball) imo
